Hi boys,

Finally got some 19s on my G6ET.

Bought these off ebay a couple of weeks ago but had to pick them up in Adelaide. (Bloke owns a FG Super Pursuit with 20s, I bought the five rims and tyres)

Now, how far do I lower the car..........

For those with experience with 19's, what PSI do you normally inflate your tyres to? Max on my Dunlop 245/35's is 50psi however I worry about harshness at this level but dont want to under inflate due to tyre wear etc. Any feedback would be appreciated. I note there are probably many variables (tyre make, profile etc) but a rough guide would be good. Thanks guys.

I would only be running your tyres at approx 35 psi max... the max rating is for max setup that the tyres can handle. if you run 50psi your center of your tyres will wear out so fast as it will be the main spot for contact to the road, under inflate (35 or less) will mean the outsides will wear and the center will be fine.... 35 is on the money for 19" tyres, 32-35 for 18's etc....

35 would be about the lowest you would want to go...

Inflation could/should vary depending on the way you drive; do you often have a full load of passengers, full load of luggage, spend most of your time driving at highway speeds, prefer to aim more towards fuel economy than outright grip...

I have mine on 38-40

Hi All,

Those 19's just made my mind up that I will be swapping/selling my 18's as soon as I can find some mint G6e Turbo 19's. I don't care about ride quality as I only take the toy out at weekends a lot of the time.

Hi all

So what is the final verdict on 19 inch wheels on the g6?

Does the steering wheel shake on some surfaces?

Is there more road noise than on the 18 inch wheels?

Is it cheaper to get aftermarket or Ford wheels?

Thanks

S

Definately a minimum of HOT 38psi front for a 35 profile. I would even go up to 44 on a real wet day and they were cold when I am inflating. I use 40F 38R. Why put more pressure in the rear ? The motor and weight is in the front.

Yes 19's will be noisier. The most you can have a 35 profile.

They are dearer to replace. No they don't make the car handle any better. No it does not shake the wheel or really give you better feel. Poly bushes will do that.

Aftermarket wheels are so much cheaper than Ford.... to a point.

Then you will want to lower it. Then you will want the big brakes cause the stockers look crap...lol it never ends once you just do one thing.
