I been reading up on a cooler thermostat for my car(bf xr6t) and went with the 82 degree dayco one, installed it and went for a drive and I did notice it was running a little cooler on the gauge while cruising. Under load a few times it went to normal operating temp and the temp came down a little quicker than normal whilst back to cruising again. I am aware it wont work 100% without ajusting the thermo fans to come on earlier also.

But my question is: Will it cause any damage to my engine from changing from the stock 92 deg one to the 82 deg one? And Does it increase any power anywhere or just consistency?

Thanks

It may affect fuel economy due to the engine possibly thinking it is still in cold mode.

Maybe a tuner can confirm this though.

Well my uneducated thoughts would be that the standard thermo would be better. As your car will be at correct operating temperature much quicker. The cooler thermo means you will be running on a colder engine for longer.
