Hey mate I commend anyone who has gone through this kind of thing and has made the decision to save their own life. It can be so hard amongst the concerns from loved ones the torment from others around you whether it be people you associate with work with or just people who pass you in the street. Five years ago I had the lap band operation done and it has changed and saved my life.

I reached just under 210kg and was in danger of dropping where I stood before I was 30. About 3 years after I brought my first house, changed roles at work began working my way through the company doing longer hours etc and started to experience problems with the band. I had all of the fluid removed and had xrays done and found that the band had moved and it was causing alot of reflux so I couldnt keep anything down. So I spent the next 2 years eating bigger meals and eating crap and putting 40 of the 60+ kg's I had lost back on going from nearly 210 to 140 and then back up to 177kg last December.

I went back to the doc had another xray and after finding the band had re settled in the right location had some more fluid put in the band. I started back at the gym and after a couple of weeks ended up with a hip injury courtesy of a cross between over doing it at boxing training and an old condition I had which found me in the emergency department 2 weeks before christmas. Just for the fun of it and cos they apparently had 2 for 1 deals going I was diagnosed with being a type 2 diabetic. Since middle of December I have got my eating back on track try and be as active as I can and am now down to about 125-130kg which is the lowest I have been in over 10 years. Now 32 with 2 step kids and a 3rd due in December my life is back on track and I am doing what I can now to be around for not just my family but for myself.

So to you mate and anyone going or about to go through this Kudos and all the best.

Cheers

Brad

Awesome Brad, well done on putting yourself and your family in such high regard-well worth the ordeal. Nothing really important ever comes easily mate, but that's what makes it all the sweeter.

And Zap, great to hear its all going according to plan, you will have to reward yourself when you reach your target by Xmas, maybe a mod or 3 for the car?...

Good Work Zap, keep it up... I know, as many of us do, its a hard slog sometimes...

Here is my story:

I am 25, turning 26 this October... since puberty, always been a chunky bastard... at the age of 18, leaving school, I was 110kg and 5ft 10.

In the end, I ballooned out to 150kg around the start of 2008, and decided to do something about it...

Hard work in the gym, eating better and all that jazz, had me down to 118kg back around August last year... since then, with various stressors in my life I have put 9kg back on... Which is dissapointing, but its just more motivation to get my arse back into gear... I realise this is going to be a lifelong struggle, but dammit, I am determined to get back down to the weight of 110-115kg...

Best of luck mate!

Boys... my hat is off to you all! Keep up the good work....

Keeping the regime going is probably the hardest part.

Around 1 year ago, I was 160kgs.. Lost 25kgs... then with Wog families aswell dont help... No matter what you do, there is always food on your table! haha

Been doing my diet for 2 months now.. Started at 195kgs.. You would look at me and think I wasn't that overweight..

Problem I have is im 6'4 with previous weight lifting experience.. my BMI is quite high and no matter what diet or "life change" I do, I just couldn't loose it...

One thing I like to share with people like us is this motto.. "Eat to live, NOT live to Eat!!!!""

If you remember this when your ordering a big mac, or going for seconds, you'll be right!

It wont happen overnight... but stick to it and you'll be a happy camper in the end!!

2 months on now ... I am 184kg... My goal is 140kg..

So you could not have tried to change your diet and do some walking in the morning and afternoon to lose weight.

Not trying to be mean but damn people these days are so mentally weak they get them selves in these situations

and then look for the quick fix.Hope it goes well for you anyway just my point of view.
