Ill be really keen to see this writeup henz once your done. That'll be pretty cool having a bf model ecu set launch control. I have seen 19psi in streets make a big difference.

Mmm, I thought 13psi cold tyre pressure was a bit low at first too, and it took a few runs to work down to it, but keep in mind that with tyre warm up this pressure will increase by mor than 2-3 psi ( ET streets run around 12 but can go as low as 6psi).

I constantly kept changing to 4th 50-60 mtr from the line with speeds between 180-190 kmh and only able to achive Max 12.5 second time slips.

It was only when I wound 3rd out these times started to fall below 12.5 seconds,

With std diff and gearing, Fastest speed was 198.8 kmh for 11.4 seconds and I think that if your car is running faster than 200.0 kmh, then congratulations your in the tens....

Hey henz this launch assist your speaking of is that on factory ecu and what series ute? Cheers.

I have launch control working on my 04 BAII sedan now. requires a couple of litte wiring mods too the car too get it too work correctly.

I see between 2.5 and 3 psi boost @3500 on my street tune and 7 Psi with retarded cams and ign timing on what will be my drag tune.

Its pretty easy too setup but with out the correct wiring mods even looking at the clutch pedal will cause the limiters too cut back in and you will smash your head into the windscreen!

the attached pic is at 3500 rpm limit with stock cat and dump and retard cam and ign timing @ the corresponding load points. As long as rpm is kept about this you wont notice and ill effects power wise (IE ideal for a drag tune)

If you hit the load points on the street the car bogs down as it transitions through these point and back up too decent cam and ign timing.

The pics taken im my garage full throttle revs limited too 3500 and clutch in. On the street it holds 3500 until a preset road speed is reached and then the limiter is lifted. Wheels spin is minimal because of this. It also eases the drive line load too an extent as theres not big rpm shock load applied because you feather the clutch out instead of just popping it.

Oh and it makes a super cooler spooling sound :)

I ran a 12.89 in a stock FG Manual (well had a K&N and replaced intake pipe) with taxi tyres on :roflmbo:

The key for me was to do as bigger burnout as possible, get to the tree, stall it up to 3000RPM with the handbrake up a little but finger on the button.

Tree goes green and just wait until your ready for a good take off (remember they're not counting your response time) get a good even match from releasing the handbrake to releasing the clutch, the hardest and most crucial part

rev out to 6000RPM (verge of the rev limiter), changing into 2nd and 3rd only put the clutch in a little, slam the gear stick in and keep your foot flat on the accelerator, remember you have triple synchos so the gear stick is going to slide right in.

I got a 1.98 60ft which is pretty good for a stock manual.

picky of my magical run, I have 2 numbers cause the missus wanted to have a go as well, actually she got a 13.9 which isnt too bad at all!

I like reading all your tips.

They all suck!! LOL

Where were ya when I did my first run??? HUH???

Anyway. Heres my "tips".

Ok. Mine is a ZF. Have done the normal mode and sports mode. My absolute fav was stalling it up in 2nd as suggested, then putting it in to first and launching.

BUT YA FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!!!!!!

You are now in manual mode, so when you bog down about 30m from the line, don't go lookin around to see what the problem is. IT"S YOU!!!! Sh1t. I forgot to change gears.

Ok. If you havent got a surge tank, make sure in a BF you have more than a half tank of juice or you will run out halfway down the track.

So get a surge tank, take off the tow bar. Don't worry about TC. Tuner says its turned off in the tune. SO WHY CAN'T I DO A BLOODY BURNOUT WITH 370RWKW?????

Ok,do a tiny one that looks like I'm in a 120Y.

Right. This is it. Running on fumes, got some flash Merc next to me Bang. Ease on the juice. Boost kicks in, arse kicks out, back off, into it again. More pedal pressure, sh1t, theres the floor. Right shes flat. There goes 2nd, now into 3rd, dunno about 4th as the sound barrier is comin up. CHRIST this is quick.

Ok, past the finish. Slow steady braking. Dunno how I did, but the trip computer says I'm using 600l per 100 K. Anyway, I beat the Merc.

Ok I've slowed enuff. Calder has that big right hand loop at the end. Im slow enough for....OMG, no I'm not. I'm, still doing 140. HELL!!

Ok, get back around to the front. Grab my time slip. Is Calder Park going broke??? Can't they afford to put some ink in the printer??

Squinting while driving back to line up,. Whats my time. WHATS MY TIME. Whats that 12.096. Is that my...holy hell. I just did a 12.09 with a crap launch. End speed of 122 mph. WHAT???

I have no idea what it all means.....but I'm goin again. Bugger. Next to the merc again.

my 4 speed auto launch:

1. traction off

2. manual shift mode

3. stall up with foot brake

4. as its about to come out of stall click 2nd gear and blip the brake pedal

5. stationary burnout to get a little bit of smoke happening

6. drive out of the skid towards the start line to dry ya tyres

7. make sure car is in first gear

8. apply the foot brake as hard as possible

9. hold the handbrake up as high as possible

10. wait for the lights to start

11. accelerator flat to the floor

12. wait for the needle to hit 3500rpm and generating around 7psi (et streets) 13psi (full slicks)

13. let it rip and hold on!

if you nail the launch, you will be shifting 1st to second gear almost instantly. generally around 5250rpm. then 2nd to 3rd is at around 5300rpm. I never shift any later than 5500rpm because the torque is already taking a nose dive, no point draging it out.

its all a learning experience and becomming in sync with your car, my methods wont work with every 4 speed auto.

just keep on getting out to the drags to perfect it.
