It's like the throttle kind of sticks as in I put my foot down and then off it seems too hold revs for a second then drops off pedal is fully returned when this happens so I'm guessing it's the TPS/throttle position sensor? Ideas, anyone. I have tried the tps reset method holding pedal flat and try to start the car but still does it. This only happens randomly on first start up in the morning or when my car has been shut off for a long period but it goes away after like 2-3mins or after I give it a hard time when its warmed up. If your not getting a check engine light, Check for airleaks around the top/bottom intake manifold gasket

The Original Unit can cause problems.* The older spec Throttle Position Unit has a dimple on the body of the sensor .It ( the Unit ) can cause problems with rough running on start up and when driving.http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66923&st=

When do it do it? when cold or warm? Its pretty simple to test just spray some cabr cleaner around the join between the upper and lower manifold when the car idling and you will here the note change if there a leak.Another member on here had similar issues and replaced the TPS to no avail. The car was throwing out ETC/ACC codes so the accel pedal sensor assembly was replaced and this still didnt solve the problem. In the end it was a leaking manifold gasket. The car didnt always play up but was similar in symptoms to what your describing

I have a very irregular idle. Sounds like it s running on 5 cylinders. I have replaced the coils andplugs. So they are eliminated. So now to the T.P>S. I a sure that it is the proble. I also sometimes get high idle. But it shows no particular patter. I wentto Ford today to get a prie oon a T.p.s and ound that they only sell the complete thottle body. SO that is out the window... Now to look for an afermarket version... Edited 09/07/10 09:18 AM by HI PSI

So now I am thinking that it may well be the fuel Reg as the problem stared when I put the PW Surge tank and 044 on. The car seems to have a constant miss like it it trying to retard itself. Plugs and coils have been replaced... So not that. Car goes into a shop tomorrow. See if they can work it out..
