Still deciding on how much to fork out on engine build up, my intetions are to get my BAmkII to a 'safe' (using that term loosely haha) 380rwkw mark and give it a squirt on occasion track time/drag strip runs. Budget wise I'm thinking about getting Spool Rods and forged CP pistons for $2000 off their website.

Just trying to get peoples thoughts on this combo and if many people on here have/had these rods before? and what else should I look into doing when the motor gets stripped down?

u can swap rods/pistons by dropping the sump while motor still is in car ive been told. So you dont have to take it all out. But yeah if you do decide to take it all out, what worm said is a must. Do head bolts too then read one of the other many threads.

Ive heard heaps of spool rod suess stories in the eseries site. I recall a few people on here using spool rods too.

at least! I done the sums on my build the other night. 15 g's for 370rwkw. Dont know how so many people get to this level of power so cheaply. And that is power mods only, not servicing and tyres etc.

In hindsight a built atomic motor would have been the go, and then I could have also sold my f6 motor. But oh well, sh*t happens. :+1:

Lynchy, I've got 1 set of Mahle Powerpak pistons and Argo rods which are a step or two up on the Spool/CP combo. PM me if you are interested.

And definitely do your oil pump gears. If it's in the budget, grab an entire modified pump with billet gears from Atomic as well as a girdle.

PM sent.

Miles- I've spent roughly $7000 on the motor so far, so reckon that will jump to $15,000 after build.

to drop the sump you have to drop the whole front steering and suspension out. I found it easier removing the bonnet and pulling the whole motor out, lol.

:buttrock:

Not to mention still needing to support the engine from above because you've taken the engine mounts away with the cross-member...

Take the motor out from the top, its alot easier!
