Hey guys,

Was just wondering if I could ask some opinions plz. Now currently I've got a 330kw atw EVO 8MR but it's up for sale now. Firstly I was looking at just the std XR6T's but now someone pointed out to me that the BA and BF Typhoons have come down drastically in price and you can pick up some good deals out there. Is this true ?? I figure I'll want to spend around 30k maybe a little less.

Also, are there any differences in regards to the BA and BF Typhoon models ?? And how strong are these engines ?? Would it be a bad idea to buy one if it's done over 100,000kms ???

Thanks for your help

Cheers

All the BA F6's are manual

The ZF in the BF's is the gearbox of choice.

You should be able to get a BF F6 for the money you have

BA are manual only... 6 speed...

BF 6 speed manual and auto...

Strong engines... good for 400rwkw with bolt ons...

100km is getting higher for doing huge mods... Might need to do valve springs and turbo soonish if already boosted...

BFs come with brembo fronts standard... Much better option...

Autos are MUCH quicker!!! Much!!!

And well, you'll need some decent suspension if you're used to an EVO!!!

09/06 bf typhoon with auto and 22,000kms on carsales for $29,500!!!

Awesome buying!!!

Upgraded cooler, dark argents and brembos... That's a steal!!

firstly welcome to the sitespoton.gif

secondly I would think twice about selling the EVO , sounds like a weapon.

A Phoon will never stick to the road the same no matter what you do to it.

Having said that I have owned both a BA & BF Phoon.

The BF is better finished and an all round more refined drive IMO.

I opted for the ZF this time round and find it a great compromise over the manual in city traffic.

In terms of strength I ran 310 rwkw on the BA for around 60k and the BF is about to clock over 70k all of them with

over 350 at the treads and still going strong.

These are the ultimate tourer, comfortable and go like stink.

120kph - whatever acceleration is just staggering.

I suppose it all comes down to what you want from it. Mine's a daily driver. Farkin quick taxi

Thanks for that guys. Yeh I was after a manual actually, but im starting to re think that idea as I have heard the ZF box is magic !! Can you still drive it like a manual (obviously without a clutch) ??

I've been checking out that black BF on carsales, but I told myself im not getting a black car . I live in the country and black looks awesome when it's clean and like a pile of crap when it's not so im gonna steer clear of it.

Yeh I've thought about selling the evo and it's got to happen unfortunately. Need some quick cash and with the typhoon I'll still have some left over coin.

Preferably I'd like to buy a stock one, or one that has never been modded and then mod it myself when the time comes.

The most I'd be looking to get out of the car WORM would be around 330 - 350rwkw, so basically just basic mods. Im quite aware that the EVO will out perform a typhoon however there's something about them I've always loved so I thought why not ay ?? :)

Also, I spoke to Theo (I think) from BPR and he said there shouldnt be a issue with anything turbo or engine wise however the bushes and suspension could use a minor rehaul :)

Cheers

I dont think you can get a well looked after Bf typhoon for low 30s. Well not in perth anyway, unless there pretty desperate or there being a catch to it.

The lowest price I saw for a BF Typhoon with ZF that was unmodded and less than 100,000 on the clock from a dealer was the one I bought (35k on road).

Most of the others were either modded or pushing the 40k mark.

Look around, sometimes a well priced one comes up but they are worth it. One of the best cars I have ever owned.

Enough torque to overtake any truck at any speed without a sweat and sprint down the 1/4 in a low 13 completely stock standard, you have to be happy with that.

There are quite a few on carsales, in Vic, NSW and QLD for low 30's with some haggling im pretty sure you could get them down to 30 or high 20's. Also seeing as the cars are coming on 5 years now, alot of leases will be up and cheap deals may be available.

As mentioned a few posts above, there's one with 22K on the clock for $29,500 in Vic. And quite a few with 50 - 60,000kms on the dials for low 30's.

Either way, these cars should be able to be fine with over 200,000kms on the clock. I'd be extremely disappointed if they didnt !!

You could always wait less than 6 months until the FGII comes out with Coyote and there be more F6's on the market with some real performance bargains to be had.

Yeh true true, I'll probably be waiting a few months till I purchase something anyway. I certainly won't be jumping into anything. And yes, I think all the ford performance range will be up for bargains !!
