Pakenham Healesville Cruise 2010

DATE: Saturday 10th July 2010 (please note this is now a daylight hours cruise and NOT a night cruise)

TIME: Start 10am Please note new start time :beerchug:

DESCRIPTION: Meet at Bunnings Pakenham to start winding our way up past Gembrook through some really good twisties northwards to Launching Place. Then dog leg up to Healesville and owing to the predicted inclement windy wet weather - keep on going through more twisties up through Toolangi before heading back into town towards Yarra Glen where we will lob into a local eatery and hunker down for the winds and showers predicted about lunch time. Now here's one of the advantages of this cruise - especially since we know the bad weather is due for midday. From here on, just head on home where convenient or you can follow us back to Pakenham. For those going all or most of the way back, we cruise a relatively straight stretch through to Healesville then double back to Woori Yallock before taking a fairly bendy road through to Cockatoo then back down through some last minute twisties to finish up back in Pakenham.

All on sealed roads and round trip about 3 1/2 hours (about 185km) all up including lunch pitstop.

Please be aware there are some sweeping bends and incredible twisties on this route - best let any passangers know of potential motion sickness :buttonit:

Last time when I was part of the photo shoot, ended up spending a lot of time chatting with the others. So might be the case again. You have one more than we did as well. But you are also starting about 2 hours earlier. :turboboink:

I'm really sorry to do this to those that said they'd be definites but I drove the first part of the route tonight between Pakenham and Launching Place and it's way too dangerous to take a cruise through there at night - the road is really twisty (hairpin turns twisty) which makes visibilty difficulty and I nearly hit a wombat who was just starting to cross the road. We'd have been farrked if it was in the middle of the road after turning a corner with a possie of cars following behind me. The cruise route as described is best done during daylight hours.

Having said that, the roads I went on are way too good to not do at all and it's a pretty short cruise. We could still do it as a lunch at Healesville on Saturday 10 July? I'll scrub the list and start it again so I know who's keen to do it on Saturday during daylight hours. It would be a 11am departure from Bunnings Pakenham (yes there really is a Bunnings there now despite what Google Maps says :useless: ) on Saturday 10 July.
