I was thinking about getting some leds for my front blinkers, but think I read somewhere once that they wont flash as the flasher box needs some resistance from a globe to switch on and off?

any feedback?

If you are going to do your blinkers, do all of them.

And you will have to replace the stock flasher relay with and LED type flasher relay.

Because LEDs draw low voltage your stock relay will think you have a blown bulb and make your blinkers flash very fast.

Is it just one relay in the box where all the other relays are NYTSKY? I too would like to fit some LED blinkers but don't want to massacre the harnesses.

Don't most LED type globes come with built in resistors these days anyway?

As LED's are 1.2 to around 1.5v they have resistors to work with the 12v system. Depending on the amount of LEDs in the actual globe will determine the resistance value.

Point 2. The resistance in the globe to make it work with the correct voltage does nothing for the flasher box. The flasher box timing is determined by the load across it ie current being used by all 4 globes independent of the voltage as it will always be 12v. As LEDs use far less current the load on the flasher box is much less, therefore it "sees" a globe out so will flash faster. There are 2 ways to fix it,

1. Buy an electronic flasher box designed for LED's,

2. Use load resistors on the loom. - Not recommended as the load is quite high and transformed into heat. That's why your globes can get quite hot. LEDs don't. Some load resistors may not work as they have to be pretty accurate in value.

The easiest by far is just buy an electronic flasher box for the LEDs. Easy as pie.

So where does the flasher box live? When I turn the indicators on the ticking noise seems to come out from behind the dash, but when I look up from underneath I can't see anything that looks like a relay.

B series cars do not have a flasher box, the indicators are controlled from a device inside the cluster, so at present there is no way of getting led indicators to work other than using a load resistor.

could the led flasher box be put inline then? find which wires come from the cluster to the indicators and splice the box in?

the cluster will think there are filament globes?
