Just wondering if anyone here has been pulled up for having their xforce system (mines a 3.5 inch dump and cat into 2.5 duals) to loud.

Im changing my rego over at the moment into ACT, and it hasnt passed inspection because it went 96db.a bit hard to quieten down the system with the 2.5inch duals.

So yeah just wondering how loud everyone else's system is that is similar?

Does it have the smaller (louder) mufflers or the larger (quieter) mufflers?

There is 2 muffler styles and then you have a choice or mild or stainless steel...

I have to say I have (and still have) issues with mine being noisy inside the car, but its not too bad outside unless its off cold start or very hot from an extensive drive.

I use the 4" dump however; which may attribute to my inside noise concerns.

There's lots of stuff you can do. Stuffing steel wool up there is one option that's been popular. Alternatively use some thin metal sheets inserted between the flanges with a strainer style design to restrict flow and get noise reduction. Obviously you dont want to boot it around if your doing that, just pass and remove them. Or change your rear muffler to something more restrictive/stock.

The right way to quieten it down would be to change those mufflers then.

It'd be a shame if you wanna keep it sounding like that though, as its not a free swap lol.

I'd have a chat to your local exhaust shop, preferably a custom place, not doing so much of the "off the shelf" systems.

find someone with the quiet x-force twins in your region, pay for the exhaust swap and reswap to be done and give them a carton

So Yeah... Got my road worthy certificate today.

Went to the local Exhaust Centre, the guys there took out the Gasket at the join, before the rear muffler and placed a custom plate that had 3 smaller holes per pipe, thus restricting flow and noise to 93db. UNFORTUNATLY still wasnt good enough for the guys doing the certificate(AGGRAVATING), so a quick trip to Bunnings.

A pack of steel wool,

A broom stick, to push it in to the end of the rear muffler

A role of wire, to make a hook to fish it out straight away

and I returned with a db reading of right on 90...

Thanks everyone for you suggestions, in particular GREGOR for mentioning steel wool.

Now I can go back to my Glorious sounding exhaust system, which I found out was actually 98db.
