I ordered my pwr fg cooler off luke@pwr. . The piping and intercooler are seperate part numbers, so I bought the cooler first and a few weeks later bought the pipe kit. It was 990 for cooler and 825 for the black powder coated pipe kit with all clamps and all silicon. Or less a few bucks for both at once. I fitted the cooler on the garage floor in an hr going steady. No hoist. All slid up from under neath. The cooler came with fitting instructions and was pretty simple to fit. The pipes took about an hour also. They came with fitting instruction too. Also done on the garage floor. Thanks

Mate, probably silly question, but did you not remove the bar to fit the cooler? Also, I'm running the V8 lower air box so trying to confirm that the stepped cooler and PWR's pipe kit will clear underneath the snork/box connection (cold side pipe) as she's a tight fit. I know some have run into trouble here with other cooler/pipe combos.

Bomber, last time I heard Pwr are planning or have just released a "new version" of the cooler, which could be different to the one discussed above

Thanks for that. I live on the Gold Coast so will go and see them at the factory. I don't want to cut my car so this is the only real option. I'm not chasing big power either and this cooler is rated to 450kw. The factory turbo will run out of puff way before then. It's really just the heat thing for me being in Qld. As anyone that owns one of these things knows, it's like a different car with the cool night air. I just want that more often! Cheers, Bomber.

I have the "NEW" PWR cooler thanks to Mick @ Pit Lane!!!

no mods no cutting 100% direct fit

fit straight up to Herrods pipe kit

again no mods or cutting needed

dunno about the max power rating and sure its not going to be as good as a cooler that you have to butcher your car to fit, but my FG G6E with the PWR cooler Herrod pipes injectors and high flow cat make a decent 311rwkw on the mainline dyno at Pit Lane

im Happy as a pig in sh*t

probably only PWR can answer that question, but the have redesigned the FG cooler to work more efficiently while still being a bolt in fit, which it is, we were pleasantly surprised how well it fitted in AndrewD's car

Just curious but doesn't a cooler change affect Insurance anyway as its been changed from the factory cooler

that was attached to the vehicle for crash testing compliance?

I would still prefer the HDI setup as the first FG 10sec pass was with a HDI Cooler, that in itself talks.

Search for the White RDP car to find its details. by memory it was near standard bar hi-flowed turbo, exhaust, IC and tune.

The HDI kit is also alot cheaper as seen it as low as $1300.

I think the insurance issue about removing the old coolers brackets is not a issue as its not structual unless the cooler

is classed as a structual part of the car.

The way the HDI mounts up is more solid going by pictures I have seen of fittment.

look at it this way, I had the hid kit and sold it to fit this....

it may perform slightly better at very high boost levels, but it comes at the expense of A LOT of metal cutting, not to mention a sh*t load of plastic that has to be chopped up too

the herrod pipes are $450 and can bolt up to the stock cooler untill you get a new one, and the cooler was $990

if you like look up the hdi fitting instructions and see for yourself... definitely not more solid when you chop off the upper factor mounts and cut up the radiator support brackets....

also the few people with big power who had the hdi kit have also since upgraded to a better cooler..

I was sold on it, hence the reason I brought it, on the reason you mentioned and the hdi clamps, then I recieved it looked at the install instructions and quickly changed my mind......

the reason why I went the PWR isnt just for insurance reasons etc... its that the stock cooler can be fitted straight back in no issues and you'll never know it had any after market parts in it ever...
