Help Re Colour Matching Ba Mkii

I'm having an argument with my insurance company re my BA MKII

After having someone pull out of an intersection and not looking I'm now arguing with the insurace company and panel beater about the paint colour under the bonnet.

I'm sure it was the same colour as the rest of the car but these guys are arguing it was sprayed black, which is what they have done.

Can anyone confirm for me what it should be? Ford have been no help.

Do you mean the 'underside of the bonnet' or under the bonnet meaning 'the engine bay'?

I was under the impression that in some BA's, the entire engine bay paint and underside of the bonnet was black. On some it was body colour. I think on the BF's and onwards they were always exterior body colour.

Like Ross said, what colour is your firewall, inner guards and front radiator support panel and stuff like that? If its the same colour as your exterior body colour, then generally the underside of your bonnet should also be body colour. If your engine bay is black then I think the underside of your bonnet should also be black.

My july 03 phantom BA had black engine bay/bonnet underside. My Nov 04 velocity BAMK11 has Body colored engine bay/bonnet underside. Paint the same color as the exterior by not metallic

but wow I had no idea ford painted some of their engine bays black and the underside of the bonnet? why would they do that? its a waste of time n money.strange. has anyone got photos of their black engine bays with different body colour?
