Hi guys,

my BTR decided to pack it in after only a week of running 325kw, can anyone tell me some good gearbox builders in brisbane?

Hey mate, I know your broken box was standard and that needs to be rectified this time round so I'm curious what sort of modifications should be done to a BTR to keep it alive and reliable for a good period of time behind 325rwkw.

It would be good if some guys with similar power in front BTR's could give some details about what you should get done.

In the meantime I'll keep searching the site for info.

most likey was the tune not the gbox. Was it kevlar band? As in the band is a circle shape not a U shape? (3rd + 4th or any heavy load slips). My advice is find a new tuner who knows about shift pressure and torque reduction in a tune. Maybe give RAPID a call.

??? 325rwkw is a heap for a completely stock box...

I don't think a bad tune would cause this... The box is PAST it's limit...

It's like trying to make a guy fight out of his weight division in UFC and then being surprised that he loses... He might have a crack for a while but will eventually be f*cked as there Is too great a force continually punishing him!!! :buttrock:

Agree with Worm, the reason the box would have let go would solely be the 325rwkw. Mine lasted 18 months with 300odd rwkw its all hit n miss as to weather they last.

thanks heaps for your help guys, the tuner originally had the torque control turned up, but the car has having issues shifting or something, so he turned it down, think I will take it back to him and get him to turn it back up and run the valay tune till I can afford the build. *Beep* it is the 3rd and 4th gears slipping, 1st and 2nd are fine.

with 325 rwkw you should not do any power runs in 4th gear, its just an overdrive it will slip badly and will destroy the box quite quickly!!I accidently did it once and instantly lost a couple of gears and that was with a well built box.

cheers lee

thanks lee, it only dropped 3rd and 4th today, I havent done any power runs in the high gears, it selects the gears, but slipps pretty bad, so I dunno, ill take it to the tuner tomorrow and get him to have a look!

same problem I had coz. Cost me 800$ drive in/out for new kevlar band while they reservice it. This was on my built auto where the AVO tune reemed it.

I advice getting a strengthened box. I didnt realise you had a stock box too!
