Guest XR09 Guests Posted 14/11/11 05:35 AM Share Posted 14/11/11 05:35 AM I'm a big ZF fan. I love mine.I drove a manual FG 6 speed on the weekend....nice.1. Don't know if it was freaky one or not but this box was great. The shift was smooth and direct. A bit slow. And the clutch wasn't bad. Light, but a bit weak I think. The pick up was way up at the top which was annoying.2. The ZF ain't no manual in manual mode.Where I live there is bugger all traffic. And most times if I am heading the way of traffic I take my bike so I seriously would consider the manual. It is more entertaining to drive with a manual. You do feel like you have that little extra feel and control with a manual. If you fofget what you have under the bonnet and the ZF kicks down on you unexpectedly... well you will be facing the wrong way for a start. But only an idiot like me could do that. But I think you might want to add the price of a decent clutch.

I find it easier to point it in the direction I want to go with the ZF but you can't stab the clutch if it gets a bit wild. My ZF sits at lower revs than my mates T56 @ 100kmh. 1,700rpm from memory. There seems to be no doubt that the auto is the better box and gives the best driving experience in terms of performance and reliability, and is truely world class, so it all really comes down to fun factor, which I think is very important because its basically the point of getting a performance car right? Pain in the a** though in the city and yeah I get a bit of drive line snatch at low speed. Think Ford did it on purpose so the clutch would last longer. I was going to get a FG G6E but not sure why it doesn't have LSD. Does the auto not need it. I ended up with a BA2 XR6T 6 spd manual instead for half the price and more $$$s for mods later on. Maybe that's how I drive. I've always got 400kms out of a tank. But since I've been changing gears at 2000rpm (b4 turbo kicks in) I get 500kms. Awesome cars though!!
