Cliche , but at the end of the day xcal1 is dead ,so I bought an xcal3.

No choice IMO so I just had to upgrade . Just part of the cost of owning a

tuned car. If you can't afford the cost and the add on is too much , maybe you are

driving the wrong car?

Point is principle V price, so what ya gonna do ?

LOL definitely going in circles...

It all comes back to the original question...

How can you stop someone from using something for its intended purpose that they have paid good money for when it's not broken???

If SCT had any brains they would have changed the price of the XCAL3 to $400 and charged the tuners $200 every time they tuned a car... All tuners would have had to pass on their costs and we would have been none the wiser... And thy would still have ongoing income every time an SCT box is sold to someone else.... They just wouldnt have to make the new boxes...

We have tuned many cars and are sometimes the second or third shop to tune the car, paying licence fees as mentioned would mean the first tune would be cheaper but then if the car went to another shop it would end up costing more and the third etc would be just going backwards financially, ok for guys that only stick to 1 shop.

Cheers Mickspoton.gif

That said both sides of any debate need exploration and as said, I have paid for my Xcal 3.

CODB .Let's all forget about $350 as cost, it's not worth a piece of Nanny goat sh*t.

Purely demonstrative.

As always stated , that at every transactional point business needs to turn a profit.

The more hands that touch any product the more the end user pays . HHCIB

Worm you may know about teaching but you are showing you have no idea about the motor trade...

Worked for many companies in IT as a database developer and programmer before I was a teacher... Including megabus who is the software provider for all bob janes, TTF, tyrepower etc... Worked for Sympac who does front end point of sale for some bunnings and most hardware places (mitre ten etc...) and other places including Bolle/Serengetti...

Admittedly this was 8 or so years ago and things are changing because the Internet is cutting out the middle man...

I do know however when I used to get trade prices at Repco (the old e9) they were very close to between 30 and 50% off on most products (not all!) Hence would be 100% mark up if resold at RRP...

This doesn't mean this is the way everyone works... You will notice I said "general business practice"...

I went to school for quite a few years, so I guess I know quite a bit about teachers, they get paid $90000 a year, get 12 weeks holiday a year, work 9-3 and just sit on their bums and talk to younger people.

Everybody elses jobs seem so easy and rewarding :roflmbo:

now we are getting off topic :roflmbo:

What are you getting angry at me for... :roflmbo:

I didn't say you guys shouldn't charge whatever prices you do... Everyone has to make money... It's the way they are going about it that is screwing everyone over...

I also didn't say you make 100% mark up on everything... I said general business practice is to run that way... Businesses have high overheads in workshops, tools, holidays etc,etc... They are getting screwed over by people who cut out the middle man...

You should be one of the first people to know that I wouldn't try and shaft a business out of work... Or complain about what I am asked to pay... I do, however, think this is an unfair way to trade the way SCT is... :roflmbo:
