HPT and VCM = Same same. Im using one of there MVPI Pro packages and im very happy. Not as refined as sct in some respects but they are very willing to help and resolve any issues.

The MVPI (the little grey box) is also capable of datalogging and storing up to 80 mins of data which is handy for people tuning there own cars.

It also has full obd2 scanner/code reader abilities which is also very very useful for the home mechanic\

Im very happy all round. Was considering updating my x-cal1 when I sold my ute and bought my sedan but backed out as all the BS started going down over the x-cal1's (the first time last year)and I can see SCT turning off the X-Cal2's once the X-cal3 with ZF support is on the market

Anybody want to buy a cheap x-cal1??

I did the same thing and moved to HP I split the costs with another forum member so it only cost about $400 each and now we can tune both our cars as well as have enough credits to do another two T's. Its not up to the level of SCT but it does everything we need and the support is quite good here in Aus, we can change anything we want without having to pay the SCT tax.

Another bennifit was being able to just read what every tune is in the PCM and then being able to compare and mod the tune with your laptop, so you can store as many tunes on your PC as you like, so there is an alternative.

Nuts, just bought an X3 for the T this morning, and was contemplating whether to change the X1 for the ute as well while I was there, but I won't be needing a retune on the ute for a while so I didn't bother. I hate how xcal's only hold one car. Here's an idea someone make an OBDII cable that will plug into an iPhone data port build an iphone tuning app then we can hold as many tunes as you can hold on 60Gb and end up with a device that's still more powerful than what the tuning companies give you. Brings new meaning to iTunes btw I want 5% of profits from iTunes appstore sales.

actually I'm not that greedy even 1% would do, then you could be Nokia and charge a squillion dollars for the cable.

When you say it's not up to the level of SCT, what do you mean? Can't tune the car as well?

fmd, just read 16 pages of this Bullsh*t again after calling pitlane to seek some "changes" to my phoons tune, only to be told the xcal 1 that came with the car is useless now! I said "wasnt that all sorted out??"

obviously fkn not!!

just lodged a complaint with the ACCC aswell.

1 thing I want to say which hassnt been brought up in the 16 pages of crud,

WHY WASNT I MYSELF NOTIFIED OR CONTACTED ABOUT THE XCAL 1'S BEING TURNED INTO PAPER WEIGHTS??

You cant break the news on a forum AFTER its been locked down, without any attemps to notify the customers before hand!

I never received a letter from SCT or Herrods, nor did any of the 4 tuners ive been to over the years send me letters warning me of this!

And last year when all this crap came to surface we were told ASLONG AS THE XCAL 1's WE OWNED WERE ALREADY CUSTOM TUNED, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BE UNLOCKED FOR FUTURE TUNING/SERVICING.

its not our fault SCT are sh*t at making security on their software allowing some wanker to tamper and crack their software, target the crook, not the consumer.

I thought CAPA were fisted for this, hence Herrods taking over, thought this all sorted its-self out!!! :bangcomputer:

when I bought my orignal xcal 1 for $750 years back, I never noticed an agreement or clause which stated " you must be a member of ford xr6 turbo forums to find out about any updates or anal reaming we may give you.

If it wasnt for this forum or Pitlane telling me after it was already to late, what chance did I ever have of getting in and getting my car finished before the switch-off??

NOT A CHANCE IN HELL, I got fisted.

what SCT have done is criminal , and what Herrods have done is gutless and pathetic and I believe if they cant get these xcal 1's working for future tuning, then you better be prepared for court costs buddy.

Admitted we have been fed up the arse, ATLEAST make it a small pen*s by making us pay $50 extra on-top of our tunes to be allowed to have a 1-off tune for the xcal 1 updated???

but to completely lock them down is a joke, I bought my car half tuned, I was aware of this problem, the car needs a wastegate port and larger actuator, so pitlane tuned it so it was safe until this was completed as the ex-owner couldnt afford to have the porting done at the time.

WELL I was buying a arse load of parts like plenum, surge tank, exhaust, bla bla bla and was going to travel to Melb later in the year to get all this fitted and tuned and COMPLETED to have it how I dream it can be, well thanks SCT I now have to pay $599 extra to be able to do exactly what I could do before.

In no way am I blaming pitlane for any of this, their just stuck in the middle like we are, unfortunate their the ones who had to break it to me, I honestly cant belive after the amount of time I spend on here I never seen this AGAIN, or maybe just thought it was thread mining from last years escapade

AIDS, that's what I hope you get. teach you for touching bums wont it!!

Just to clarify, not that it really matters to you now in any case, there was never any advance warning. Just a "oh BTW we've locked these effective last night" email from Herrod to the dealers.

But at least if you had of kept up with the news it would have saved you a phonecall!

that's exactly my point, where was the warning?

They cant say 12 months ago, becuase 12 months ago, we were told by Herrods, who were told by SCT that aslong as your XCAL 1 was previously tuned, and not running the generic tunes, it would CONTINUE to be flashable in the future.

Its gunna be interesting to see what happens with this.

f*cking pricks ha... I dont think anything is happening by the sounds of it...

I would put in a complaint to consumer affairs... I did that with Ozzy tyres and it got dealt with quickly...

If they do this to the XCAL2 things are gonna get nasty!!!
