Daniel,

As I said in a previous post to Seduced, if you dont have complaints to make about sct or herrod dont fcking post here because its people like you that are getting every other member on here that has an xcal1 worked up!

We all cant afford top notch mods and F6's so if you think its attracting a group of "cheaper" owners and that you are "ashamed" then buy a Expensive Daewoo and piss of to the LS1 forums FFS...

Nowhere was my post directed to you, you need to calm down and lay off the intoxicants a bit I think!

I have complaints and have posted them, but I think there are too many non-educated people (not saying in general) thinking it will be an easy or cost effective fight to take to SCT of Herrod. I can tell you now, it takes time, a long time. I can also tell you now it would cost more than the ******* upgrade to to an xcal3 if you wanna bring it down to basics!

You don't need to get personal bringing my car or modifications into the scenario, nowhere have I done this. My car is a private/work scenario, mods are paid for by me FOR me. I am not rollin g cash by any means and I'm not ashamed to be in any badged car, so long as its good! If only most manufactures would make said good cars lol!

As for LS1 forums, why the hell should I go there? The Xcal1 discussion doesn't stop at the gates of fordxr6turbo forum FYI, it is well known stuff - as it has been for 18months!

The shame isn't anything to do with people cheapening the image of these cars, nor some of the twits we have all seen getting around in them. That is fine, as it happens to all cars over time.. but more so the way some users have reacted over the topic.

Put yourself in SCT's shoes for a minute, imagine you're happy with the way things are/have proceeded and you come in here to read this entire thread!

What you will see is nothing dissimilar to a schoolyard argument, a truckload of misinterpretation, confusion and a lot of wound up people who seemingly cannot all be pleased.

I mean, the simple argument of "it happened overnight, where the **** was the warning" is just preposterous as its been on the table for 18months+

IF you can read my previous posts, you will see there are many views and beliefs I do agree with here, it's not like I'm not involved or getting the stick up there either!!! I just cant deny I knew it was coming, I sat on my hands for too long and I also don't have the time, effort or money to fight it.

Daniel, it did fkn happen overnight, after the last saga 18 months ago, when Simon from Nizpro, and hundreds of users were outraged after SCT shut out the Xcal1's over night, Rob Herrod reached an agreement with SCT to keep them running indefinately...He came onto the forums stating that XCAL1's were safe!

And here is SCT's email reply to me on that fact:

I see the reply that Herrod had made ... (Some personal information edited out) ... Additionally the comment that was posted by myself is on both the 31st and the 2nd stand. We (SCT) had never given any indication that we were going to keep the boxes on for retunes. Adding calibrations is considered an update. We have not done anything to deactivate the boxes just the software to keep from allowing further tunes to be flashed to the boxes. The intended use (switching between calibrations) is still available. The unfortunate part is that we cannot continue with offering flashing capabilities.

Charlie

So either Herrod's post was very carefully worded to allow an eventual user screwing... Or SCT have just dumped Herrod in a position of making us a promise that he is now liable for.

Full Monty, I read this too, but Rob isn't able to speak for the manufacturer and I took it with a grain of salt as did most tuners - I believe as there was just too large an outcry (by tuners, not so much us) that there had to be a backflip of some sort.

Technically the xcal1's are running indefinitely, but they are now unable to have new programming loaded into them.

What did Rob say exactly would be the situation on that subject?

ARMs email reply is highlighting this exact point I am sorry to be making! It was there, in black and white.

I am not saying it was the correct way to phrase it for the most people, but it might have been done that way to put out the fire at the time.. who knows.

Now, understand I'm not saying it wasn't an abrupt end, albeit with a "grace period" almost to upgrade to new hardware at a lower than retail pricing point , but I (I can only speak for myself, (unlike many people on here) had been warned by tuners, people in the know for a loooong time coming that this was extremely likely to happen in the near future.

if si we understand why you agree with sct as you will gain a great profit from the sale of sct products!!!!

we can import sct xcals for $546 direct from sct.cutting out the dealers and keeping our xcal paper weights.

why is it herrod or sct cant offer us trade in xcal1 and offer us xcal3 for $446

Weird how that can't be done very easily, firmware for other devices is free and available from the manufacturer's website.
