Without Rob Herrod, the XCAL1's would be turned off, and there would be no rebate. The guy fights for us, about time we realised this and appreciated it.

How can we appreciate the work Rob does on our behalf if there is no transperancy into that work.

Would be nice if Rob found the time to address this community's concearns rather then letting the tuners who are based on the front line to answer all the questions and cop the undue flack.

We all know the previous distributor f@cked it for everyone, but SCT made that product knowing there were flaws in it which allowed for the resetting and resale of the product.

It seems SCT creates headaches for anyone associated with their product, consumers and distributors.

Just to clear another thing up re Henz post

Cars that are modified with different injectors for example will not run on a standard tune, yes you are correct,

I have suggested to my customers that have contacted me, that they wanted to trade up through Pit Lane they just need to drive the car to us, return it to stock in the driveway, we load their tunes from my laptop into the X3, reflash the car and off they go, not really too hard to do, will take maybe 15 minutes and the car is none the wiser, the same tune as they had when they drove up.

There is a Xcal for sale on ebay, the seller has been informed that it can longer be tuned, his response was "that's funny because ive got a perfomance shop and I tune them all the time......al denpends on what programe you run/have."

Ford XR6 / XR8 / FPV C.A.P.A Flash Tuner - eBay, Other, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 20-Jun-10 19:53:49 AEST)

that shows the responsibility of some people.

Well I rocked upto the dyno and realised my xcal1 support vanished lol and was stuck up $hit creek. I was warned some time ago with adequate explanation of this. The xcal1 is crap and you will end up with a superior product switching to the X3. I know its a PITA and a financial burden but it is what it is now and we just got to deal with it and move on. If you're that disturbed move to another tuning solution but IMO sct is well worth staying with.....No other software etc rivals the data logging capability which I rely on. Go onto the HP tuners forum and see what tuners are saying about their product :P

So the people chasing cheap tunes have been caught out, once again you get what you pay for.....

Get what you pay for eh??

What I did pay for was a tune + xcal1 12 months ago (at going market rate) by a very well known site sponsor - (not my current tuner) that was prepared to dump this bit of kit on poor old unsuspecting me - even though the tuners were well aware (or should have been) of the limited future use of the product sold.

To say I am disappointed by this lack of "customer care" is a gross understatement. If I had known at the time of purchase that the xcal1 would not be supported in 12 months there is no way I would have bought this product.

I was going to get a new tune put in next month but ..........burnt.

Why not name names? Then we can ask for a please explain?

I know that when I asked Mick @ Pitlane if I could buy an XCAL1 for when he tuned my car about a month ago, he let me know it would be useless soon... So I didn't...

HOWEVER, why aren't the other site sponsors this good...?

This thread is getting long, not sure if its already been questioned...

So the support for the XCAL1 is ceasing, whats stopping a tuner from using the XCAL1 tuning software to tune my car? Is the manufacturer sending updates to the tuners to lock them out of the XCAL1 software? If this is the case, could the tuner not 'update' their software and continue to tune with the XCAL1?

Every time we flash a tune into a box it is recorded in our software, sometimes during the course of tuning a car, although the customer may get 1 custom tune, we may have flashed to box up to 30 times endeavoring to get the best tune for the car, this would count as 30 flashes.

The way the software works is we need a dongle plugged into our computer for the software to open, no dongle and it will not open, this flash count is kept in the dongle, after a certain amounts of flash burns the dongle has to report back to SCT and be updated, some tuners may have as little has 25 flashes before needing an update, when updating we get the latest versions of software and any changes to existing version plus any added processor codes, the dongle flash count is also reset.

We can have 2,3 or even 10 computers with the software, but we have 1 dongle which needs to be updated on a regular basis.
