I too had wondered if no blow of valve would help keep boost in a manual and maybe help to obtain better race times?? What does s a blow off valve do.. Remove the boost back pressure on the turbo.. So would this be an advantage for strip applications? Especially in manuals.... ???????????? :makedeal::spit::dontknow:

Boost control with throttle open is the job of the wastegate.

Boost control with throttle closed is the job of the blow off valve.

Can't say I have any boost when the throttle's closed, BOV or no BOV.

It all comes down to which sound you prefer - psssch or tsu tsu tsu. No more, no less.

Maybe I should have said "when"....

There is a boost spike when the throttle is closed on the turbo after boost is applied on accel...that is what the blowoff valve controls ---by venting the excess airflow/pressure to atmosphere or back to the turbo inlet (plumb back). Reliability of turbo and throttle response are the main aims.

A plumb back fitment is done on std cars as these valves can be somewhat open under vacuum, and hence with this style they still only require 1 main air filter for servicing.
