Yeah yeah it's Big Nose, so what...bloody good plan IMHO and about time somebody stepped up to the plate.

MOTOR racing champion Mark Skaife has called for speed limits on Victorian freeways to be increased up to 140km/h in a major revamp of the state's road safety strategy.

Not quite sure about the speed increases, but he's right, speeding isn't the 'silver bullet.' The other opinions like tougher testing and getting sh*t cars off the road is a good call. Most old cars can't stop well and can cause death instead of injury because they don't have adequate breaking systems or roadworthy tyres. Finally someone has said something in the media about what I've been thinking for years

Just got back from the states and we comfortable cruised the highways at 150, just keeping up with the majority of the traffic, on occasions from LA to Vegas we were sitting on 180 no problems at all. Cops around but didnt see them pulling over everyone, just those being twats. The roads aren't all that great either. Take the Brisbane-Gold coast stretch, heaps better quality of surface, less traffic as well.

They have dickheads hogging the fast lane and tailgaters but the traffic just seems to flow better (when its not congested to sh*t).

This is the sort of thing we need, more famous/known people trying to tell them what to do.

speed isnt the only thing that kills, they should focus on other stuff like drugs/drinking more.

I wonder what the rules and regulations would be like if revenue had nothing to do with it???
