When Do You Need To Tune

Hi All, my question is what mod's can be effectively done without a custom tune. So in principal for those among us that are aware that ford can identify a tune (diagosntically) what can we do to pick up some power and efficency without compromising warranty. Although, this is a proposition that would help people that are not financially endowelled, or not prepared to risk a warrantee. Therfore this is not an opportunity to express views other than the question. It may be an opportunity for tuners/sellers to express a view but that only. In conclusion this is a question for those that want to spend addition income on non-warranty voiding goods at least. It is a tough one but I feel this is a question that involves the majority, therefore it becomes an excellent opprtunity for the right Company.

The posed question is somewhat debatable, but I feel that there is a market that wants DIY or similar. Not all and I would argue that most people are happy to do upgrades that are not going to place their waranties at risk. So I will make the massive statement that this is a market that you can utilise? Therefore who wants to create a new ( or just promote) market that will be patronised.

LOL I like it Mick!!!

Maybe a k&n filter... Will get you 5kw more...

And some rims... but change them back when you go into the ford dealer! LOL

Try clean your boost solenoid... That's a good mod...

Ford has specifically designed there cars to stop people from gaining power without them knowing. This is of course a smart decision when you are offering a warranty. They didn't want to see something happen like when Subaru started selling there WRX's and everyone came back in trying to claim component failures due to after market mods.

There's just simply not much that can be done to the Fords where the car will not know and either stop the fun or log trouble codes for your dealer to read.

I've just had a new turbo cleared under warranty (had 5 days left of it too) and I had fitted an F6 intake snorkel to my stock air box as well as a K&N.

Have heard the oiled filters like the K&N have been blamed for sensors in the intake fouling though (whichever ones they are, air flow I assume).

Ahh yeah the pressure (volume mass) changes depending on boost of course?. How many sensors are in the intake/throttle section and could theoretically get oiled up?
