Put my car into the panel shop to get a small scrape on the rear corner fixed up, nothing major, just irritated me every time I looked at it.

The beater, who is a good friend and has looked after my cars for years, not only fixed the scrape, but repainted both front and rear bars, retouched the whole car, ran the polisher over it and then sent it to the carwash cafe next door and had it completely detailed.

When I picked it up on Friday night, it looked like a million bucks, he'd done a first class job as always.....no complaints at all

However.....when I opened the door...the smell hit me like a ton of bricks....the detailers have used this super strong deoderiser on the interior.....and it's just friggen foul mate!!! to the point where I had to drive home with all the windows down just to avoid throwing up

It's kinda' like that super-dooper industrial strength stuff they use in public toilets....you can smell it just walking past the car!

It's now been sitting in the carport with the windows down since I got it home....28 hours ago!! :ermm:

My car used have that new car kind of smell, now it's just unbearable to me....was going to go for a drive on Friday but I couldn't handle the smell....it's such a p*ss-off....I've now got a car that looks great...but I can't sit in it for longer than I can hold my breath.... :banghead:

drink about 22 hienekens and the throw your guts up in the car,

Leave the car out in the sun for a week (windows up)

I GUARANTEE you wont be able to smell the deodouriser after that!

Take a trip down to your local Auto 1 store and pick yourself up a bottle of aerospace 303. Go over your interior with this, and enjoy the new car smell again

You could try a home remedy out of the pantry, have used bicarbonate of soda before for the same thing.

If the odour is coming from your carpets then sprinkle it on the carpet, rub it in, then vacuum out after a few minutes. Otherwise even just sprinkling some on a towel or newspaper lying on the back seat and leaving it overnight should help.
