hey guys,

not sure where to post this!

but me and a mate installed an eboost street boost controller into my T the other day, car is pretty much stock atm.

but the problem is, when we first installed it, it seemed to be working fine! then we took the car out for a quick run and when we got back we noticed the PSI wasn't reading right.

At idle the vacuum is reading pretty much at 0.00, lowest it seem to get is -3. and with light accel its reads around 8-9 PSI. looked around a few threads about this, most say the BOV hose or other hoses may have come loose, but checked all that and everything seems fine, I've takin all the tubes on/off etc, but no dice!

anyone got any ideas? or had the same problem? :roflmbo: I'm still a bit of a turbo novus, so any help would be great!

thanks,

Dan.

Ring turbo smart and ask for the directions to recalibrate the boost pressure sensor.

Its sound like the sensor is out of calibration, you should be seeing closer to -20 at idle.

It would be a good idea to fit a mech boost gauge and confirm its not boosting to 9psi at light accel otherwise you could wind up with :roflmbo: if its not turned correctly

Weird, you should have approx -22 vacuum. Where have you plumbed the boost hose into? Post pics and double check you have the compressor line going into the front of the solenoid and the wastegate actuator line into the side (right hand side with the solenoid hanging down IIRC). If the tune is stock just set your overboost to 9psi, COR off, sensitivity to 20, and the gate pressure really low (say 3) and duty cycle low also (I'll have to look at home for some values to start with on the stock tune).

yeah when we first put it in it was reading about -20 or so, but I'll give turbosmart a call tomorrow and see how its done.

cause yeah don't want anything to go bang! :roflmbo: still seems to be running fine though, but my mates got a spare boost gauge, so will put that on to check the boost levels.

thanks mate!

yeah exactly! umm the boost hose is connected with a t piece to the hose that's kinda next to the BOV, not the hose directly out of it. not sure what is called? but have tried with both hoses anyway, same result.

ive checked over the hoses from the solenoid heaps of times, but all set up how it should be.

ill get some pics tomorrow in the daylight.

thanks for the help mate. :turboboink:

....sorry I mean its the VAC line that goes from the unit itself that's connected to the hose near the BOV.

but yeah prettty sure eveything else is how it should be!

If I were you id wait until you have all the bits and pieces you need, get them fitted and then look at then.

The last thing you need now is for it to go bang

Well my suggestion then would be to connect the factory solenoid back up as per usual (basically use the eBoost as a boost gauge) and you'll know if it's the eBoost sensor unit straight away. Using the eBoost with the factory tune will be fine, however you have about 2psi max before yo will go into limp mode. If using the factory tune you want to set the eBoost overboost protection just below the point where the factory PCM goes into limp, that way you have the eBoost cutting the fun (if you have commanded too much gate pressure or duty cycle) rather than the factory PCM. Always wise to check the AFR's if you can be bothered. Factory timing has big scope for spark retard so just use 98ron and it will hit limp mode before it pings.
