I also have a BF MKII, it only has DSC and not TC. DSC does bugger all for controlling traction in a straight line.... I have launched it with DSC on and had no dramas as it doesnt cut in harshly like TC

Are you saying that you have both DSC and traction control??? I didnt think they were both offered

You won't have DSC and not TC. Some utes will have nothing, some with TC, some with both.

I have DSC. if its on or off, it doesnt control traction in a straight line... apparently it only helps keep the car from spinning out by braking indivdual wheels

I just found this in another thread, looks like TC only kicks in when it thinks your going to end up sideways, and hence why it may have kicked in for seduce while exiting a 3 point turn

For the one above about the DSC it can brake individual wheels on the car which is how it will stop the car from spinning when ya really stuff it up. It seems to be the big hitter with TC if you get the car sideways I think the DSC and TC together make it seem a bit hairy as it sorts itself out. As for TC alone it doesnt cut in big time on mine which is straight line wheel slip.

Usually I keep DSC on as it doesn't intervene too much when taking off. It just brakes individual wheels to stop too much sliding. It only cuts power violently if it thinks you will spin the car like spinning the wheels too much going through a corner.

Overall its a good system, it gives you a little play whilst saving your arse if the need arises. And you can also always turn it off

DSC and TC are linked on the BF> I.e you can have both on or off, but not seperatly.

If you want to test DSC, do it on wet grass and see how well it keeps the car in a straight line.

DSC is a real life saver and anyone who turns the DSC off in their car is stupid as it might save you life.

No no. TC is on them all. Not sure if it's linked to DSC or not. Traction control is exactly that, if will control the traction of your rear wheels no matter what the circumstances. If you have this on while deliberately trying to loose traction then obviously you are going to have problems.

On the rare occassion I launch hard, with the TC on, the Car just over rides it and turns it off!

- Been like that since I bought it!

I don't bother turning it off at all because of this!

if im driving in gear (1st or second) and I plant it, the tyres will just fry , with no hint of any interuption from TC, the light flashes to say that its doing something, but from what I have heard its only keeping me in a straight line

FAST XR, you are correct.

Mine will also allow wheelspin in a straight line to a certain degree. Once the car steps out or really breaks loose, it brakes the rear wheels to bring it into line. Its not like the harsh TC of BA models.

I've entered a tight corner way wway too hot and hit the picks mid corner which initiated the car into a slide and should have spun right off the road, but the DSC stepped in and straightened it back up without any input from me other than steering. That is why I leave it on. If I purposely want to spin the car around with wheelspin or the very rare small burnout, I'll make sure its off.

I believe Ford refer to it as DSC on BFs while TC is not mentioned at all.

I had a BA with 350rwkw and when I had traction control on, if I gave it the boot... The traction control would turn itself off... It wouldn't even kick in... Kinda like "I give up"... The only time it didn't is if I launched with low RPM (ie. 1500rpm), it may have pulled back as I started to give it full throttle...

But if I loaded it up (2500rpm+) then it would be like it didn't exist...
