Hey Guys, its been a while since I have been in and around the forums, work has been keeping busy of late.

A mate of mine has an 04 BA Xr6T sedan and called me the other day with the most strangest question. He thinks dirt has been sucked into the motor....??

He is a bit of a do it yourself dude, (yes, one of those) and decided to make up some piping to replace the stock ones. He originlly had the car tuned with 10psi by one of the forums reputable tuners whith the stock piping still attached.

So all is well with his new piping and tune when suddenly he realisd that as he was boosting, the pipes were 'popping' off from the pressure (not the best install). So he has replaced some of the pipes. Now unfortunatley, he believes on of the pipes had some dirt in them (powder) and it may have been sucked into the motor. The pipe in question is about 60-80cm from the throttle body.

He thinks this may be the case as now the motor idles just under 1000rpm and it always feels like its about to stall. Its also running pretty rough.

This car has always run beautifully and since the new pipes went in, it has started acting up.

Any suggestions as how to confirm this?? or if it maybe a different issue??

Once again thanks in advance for your help.

Try cleaning the throttle body, then if this doesn't fix it plugs and coils next. Failing that off to the tuner IMO

Idles under 1000rpm? isnt that normal? Its meant to be around 750 when warm? its higher when cold.

Yeah clean the throttle and check your plugs. I dont think a little bit of dirt will do anything major unless it had little stones in it.
