Last week we installed a new Turbo Package to the Ute. Thought a little write up might help people in what direction they could go in if in the market for an upgrade and chasing 500+ atw or a 9 second beast. This package has come out of another XR6T which has run low 9's and had 600+ atw. So what's been installed.

* Garrett T51r rated to 1000+hp on happy juice. Hot side of Turbs coated. They come in lots of different configurations and went the midsized to keep it's street ability. Comes on full boost @ 3400rmp using a Turbo 400 box and 3000 stally.

* 6 Boost high mount manifold which as been coated.

* 60mm Tial external waste gate.

* Custom Process West Air box and 3" Hot side piping.

* Custom 4" Dump and 60mm? gate pipe.

* Braided Oil/Water lines.

A heat guard is being built for the hot side and the dump is off to get coated like the rest.

1200cc Injectors and new fuel system are going in soon so we have not turned it up over 450 as yet but compared to a high flowed GT 35/40 turbs this package rocks. The push out of this package is so different to the standard setup which use to just fry tyres (Nitto semi's as streets) Might sound funny but It is like a large hand is behind the Ute pushing it along at a fair rate of knots, and LOVING IT !!!

There is a little more lag but with the 3000 stall it is hardly noticeable. Have not experienced a T04z in one of our cars but have been told they are great for the street but if chasing strong times on the track can run out of legs....

Thanks Dave and Mick for making this transition easy and giving the right advise once again. Love the package and drives so well on the street !!!

Ild love a setup like this, but il'd be so tempted to run the external gate with a screamer.

What power figure are you aiming for when its tuned?

So the larger turbo helps to control the wheel spin by coming on later and a little softer compared to a small turbo that spools up real quick yeh?

Sounds bloody brilliant.

Sweet looking set up mate you will be laughing once its tuned

This package on Dave's Car got to 600 atw with the head studs starting to lift. Should see low to mid 600 when the fuel system goes in on mine. At 530 will should see a 9 second run on the Ute.

We didn't want to change anything on this proven package, a screamer might of been a little loud, the Ute is also a daily driver.

CPV is going of a 8 second pass in about a month or so still have a little work to go, he has done a heap of other mods to get his beast there. As Dave said the Gen Tech Boys will get a little lonely being the only ones in this bracket and we can not have that !!

How do you find the fitment of the highmount setup? The few I've seen sit a little too close to both the strut tower & bonnet, hence my decision for the low mount kit.

Good luck with the 9 in a ute, I'll also be tackling that feat when the dragstrip over here opens up after Winter again

Location is sweet and was easy to install. Would be at least 50mm to tower and bonnet 40mm. Have also seen some high mounts real close.

Whats the low mount like ??

Some pics for you.
