You can hear it inside or outside the cabin with the bonnet closed. Its not turbo related as I can make out its comming from around the throttle body/inlet manifold and towards the front of the engine. Almost sounds like a small electric motor just about to explode...The first time I heard it was when I was giving her a hoot on my favourite private rd. It started very loud but became a bit quieter when I began to slow down and cruise to let the engine cool. Now its just makes the noise when you drive to the shops. I have checked all plumbing but I cant pin point where the hell it is comming from. Anyone experienced a similar noise? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I changed both idler and tensioner pulleys about 6 months ago but I will remove the belt tomorrow to rule that out. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Get a long screwdriver and hold the tip against each area (tensioner, water power, alternator, power steering etc) you should be able to find it quickly.
