Sounds like you have traction issues. :)

What tyres are on there now? Sportsmaxx?

Is this for the street, circuit or drag strip?

285's are a massive step up in expense with rims too.

My advice would be to try a different compound in the 245 rear first before going to the expense of 4 new wheels (8" fronts and 9.5" rears) too.

I'd recommend (for rears only) Falken Azenis RT615, Federal 595RSR, Kumho KU36 for street. Once warm, hold the stock rwkw quite well in 2nd. Try these first. They aren't that expensive and if it's still not enough look at wider rims.

stick with 40 profile, not 35 with the 18's else your speedo will be out and also deemed unrwc.

Try get better tyres not wider. 285 on stock rim wont fit.

Thanks I will try the tyres first.

The tyres you mentioned are they soft so wont last long?

And how much are they?

I have similar issues.

I have 19x 8 allround with standard offset. I was thinking of keeping 8s on the front but 9 or 10s at the back, still at 19" wheel. Currently have Maxis Maz1 and am really happy with them, but just break traction. 370+ rwkw is a fair bet, but just that little bit extra may help. I'm more concerned with wheels and then will get rubber to fit but cant seem to find a decent wheel. Any suggestions??

After a lot of thought just got new Maxxis MA-Z1s on the FG. After 18mths of slipping and sliding I finally have GRIP.....and in Sydney it has been very wet since I got them. Should have done this at 5000km instead of waiting to 19000km. The car is now what it should have always been. ie AWESOME!!!!

The 285 will be more of an issue then the 35 profile.
