I managed to get a long motor out of a turbo territory for really cheap with only 60k kms on it.Im just trying to work out what type of motor it would be. Dunno if its got the better rods or valve springs.

Posted 10/06/10 12:30 AM Share Posted 10/06/10 12:30 AM I paid 4500 delivered from qld for a 07 tornado(f6) long motor with 18000km's. Yes I got lucky. But even in forsale seciton, full fg long motor for 4000 ono (450rwkw+ capablilities).ebay has a few for 3500$ that are usually available all the time. Bout 100,000km for stock BA ones though. Rare to find 06/06+ motors unless peopel do atomic builds without blowing their motor.gl with your mission ;/

Jarod85 Member 58 Member For: 14y 8m 3d Gender: Male Location: Orange Posted 30/06/10 01:40 PM Author Share Posted 30/06/10 01:40 PM There always seems to be small little niggle problems. The oil had blocked up the intercooler pretty good. A couple of litres of degreaser later, I decided to get an intercooler kit for it. Waiting on that to come.We had a lot of trouble getting an engine mount bolt out. It basically got destroyed to get it out. Had to swap over the sump and oil pickup. And now I need to get a new engine mount for the drivers side. Then get the motor back in. And install the new cooler and piping. I left the standard plenum. Cant really afford anything else like the plazmaman But I also suspect that they would be too big for the small power I'm after.

Posted 30/06/10 11:31 PM Share Posted 30/06/10 11:31 PM (edited) if your aiming 320-350rwkw you wont need a plenum. with this new motor (if its the same as the 06/06 stronger builds) you wont even need valve springs. All you need is coolerkit (which you got), injectors, internal fuel pump and a REAL tune not this generic crap.Get a surge tank to to preven yourself from blowing this motor up too! Best insurence for these cars when running over 300rwkw! Edited 30/06/10 11:32 PM by icer

Installed a rapid system v3 cooler kit.My mate finished putting it back together while I was at work, he said it kicked over fine, was a bit noisy in the lifters because the oil was taking a while to get to the top. He took it for a drive, and the turbo suddenly blew. I cant really describe how it happened because iwasnt there, and I'm getting a bit of a sugar coated story lol.I can't win with this bastard car.
