when I started my build I made sure I was allowed to work on my own car in the workshop. I have done my fair share of work on it(even wagged quite a few days of work) and I dont think people that dont have any mechanical knowledge can complain about cost, time etc. granted I am quite a bit overbudget from what I have originally planed but areas that I was goin to skimp on I havent. to my knowledge my car has the best of everything. I think people that just get on the forum read a few stories and expect xx hp dont really have a clue in what actually goes on into building these cars. its pretty easy to bag people out cos they are expensive or take too long but if you want a proper job you will pay the $$$. nobody is goin to built you a fast car out of a heap for nothing

I got a whole list of WRONG tune settings another tuner has done. Proof of why my auto needed 2 rebuilds. shift pressure and torque reduction. Something theyt have no idea about. So tuning autos @ another tuner is a no no. I drop 10k, 4 hours later, rod lets go. Some people say 1/4 tank of fuel @ 320rwkw while giving it some stick caused it to ping and detnate and blow...others say the tune should of prevented it. Give or take....anyone's call. Anyway, took it back, they put in new motor, retuned, 2 weeks later, auto lets go due to above reasons.

1 motor, 2 gboxes later, and countless of hours or waiting for car.... I gave up. I know them personally and got looked after...untill sh*t hit the fan then its noones fault and noone takes responsibilities....

Said it was time for a new tuner.

But that's a different issue all together.

I just cbf waiting 6 months for a tune with danny. Only reason why I took car back from him. Now that I know other people in melb can build 4spds to last more then a month (DYNO_MITE in footscray) and Mick @ PTP has had great success with autos. I should of just went to Mick at the beginning... saved alot of headaches...but as always...we find out the hard way as customers owning high performance cars.

Danny first tuned my ute a few years ago now, since then I've been back for another 2 or 3 tunes after adding a few bits and pieces here and there. I've been running on the same tune now for over 12 months and none of my headsex tunes have ever missed a beat. More power and better fuel economy than standard, what more could you want? I must also add that I was never pushed to purchase products from any particular manufacturer/workshop because he wouldnt tune it without them... My car was built with all the bits and pieces I wanted to use, some of which were reccommended by him, but others werent. I'm pretty sure I'm one of Danny's original customers, which I was referred to him by a mate, who have both used, and still run their headsex tunes. I wouldnt worry what some n00b says on this forum Danny, because you know what they say. Theres one in every crowd. :beerchug:

Well I hope the next experience is alot better. Danny tunes my ute now and Dion(dynamite performance) use to tune it and I know that Mick is probably one of the honest blokes out there, I would only use either of them, I too have been burnt with some tuners, just not as much as u did.

Are you telling yourself in that post or are you telling us....

What I've heard about your work it is always great...and considered taking my car to melbourne for you to tune it....If your good at something why not make a living from it...

Don't forget not everyone has a blank cheque to hand over when they want something new done to their car.

Over the years there have been countless people that have made good safe power at a moderate price, it's just a matter of doing your home work, talking to the right people and NOT cutting corners on the important stuff.

To me that comes across as more of an enthusiast then someone that just hands over there car and a bucket of cash and says call me when it's got a bazillion kw's.

what about the people who want stupid power, did home work, talked to the right people, didnt cut corners, but handed their car over with a bucket of cash?

:P

but yeh, nothing frustrates me more than having a chat with a person who has a modded car, who doesnt have a clue whats been done to it.

imo that's just a hoon, somebody who wants to go fast, but no interest in the actual workings of the car

If your good at something why not make a living from it...

Ive tried to highlight it here.. You wouldn't have a passion for it if you did it everyday. Especially with these situations.

Either way, I earn too much in my industry to leave to start fresh with a workshop .. I imagine I would struggle to surpass my current level of income.

In fairness to your "customer" Danny, didnt he deserve some sort of time frame in which he could expect his car ready? As for it being a nightmare to work on, im sure you would have been aware of this before you took it on...

Yes, It should have been that same weekend. And as for knowing it to be a nightmare, you dont always see that straight away. You get one problem, fix it, then another one, fix it.. it sometimes can be never ending.

I know from personal experience that you do stuff people around when wanting your services. Twice now I have contacted you about 2 different cars and yet no joy. First time we set a time and date and you pulled out at the last minute which was annoying. Second time you claim to get no reply to a pm, I resent it to which I have still recieved no reply. I also remember making an offer on your wheels which you advertised only to pull them off once I made an offer stating they were "buckled". I have obviously gone elsewhere and there is no bad blood but if you ever did open your own shop I dont know how successful it would be if you coudlnt deal with situations like these.

Apologies for that, but in some instances I get a number of people wanting me to help them out, it becomes hard to do, track, or prioritize when I only do this as a hobby for a few hours on the weekend. If I was running a workshop things would be different. I do this when I can fit it in. Its unfortunate I have to cancel when things come up. One particular thing to note is I am on call for work on the weekends which obviously takes high priority over anything.

As for my wheels, I withdrew them as I decided not to sell them, I couldn't find anything I liked to replace them, So they are still on the car.

How do you think we feel as the consumer where guys like yourself call all the shots... Im not loaded, I pay good hard earned money and want to make sure its always spent wisely. I heard you were a good option, obviously I was wrong which leaves me as a customer rather annoyed and having to do more research and spend more time forming relationships with a shop that I can trust my car with. But this isnt just aimed at you but any work shop out there that stuffs guys like me around.

With the wide experience in various modifications I've seen with these cars, I've learnt what is a good way to spend money wisely to get the best results. I'm here out of passion, not to rip people off.
