Thanks for the reply to my post and I appreciate that you obviously understood what I meant and took it onboard. As for ripping people off I would never suggest you would do that, maybe your problem is you could be to generous?? Mates rates?? This could be the cause of some of your issues.

I personally never expected that, I just wanted a service at a resonable rate from a qaulity provider.

Anyway, thanks again maybe one day you will take me up on my offer :)

I'm here out of passion, not to rip people off.

100% Danny, and I'm in the same boat as Mr Man.

Danny has been doing my tunes for years. How did this all come about? From the passion he has for our Ts that come out in his posts.

I met Danny a few years ago, THROUGH THIS FORUM. We're all pretty friendly here and pretty relaxed when it come to most things.

I don't NEED a tune next week cos my car goes fast enough as it is. It's not a MUST HAVE next week, it's a LIKE TO HAVE when there's an opportunity and it suits both of us. That's how this forum works, that's how we're at our best. We work out a time and what's to be done and it happens. The more you push it, the less likely you are of gettin things done.

There are no time limits when you're working out of love and passion for the hobby. If you want a time limit go pay big bucks where you ARE charged for time and not passion. (Know a great place for that too LOL)

Can you ring any of the other tuners at 2 in the morning to ask a question?? NO!

Thanks Danny for all your help and advice over the past few years,,,my car is still rock solid with 150k on the clock.

Price is discussed and a written quote is given allmost everytime to our tune customers, pretty much each customer knows how much they will spend before spending anything with us, we have made customers aware of any possible setbacks before starting based on our experience and what they allready have/want, boost may be pulled back if needed to cover weak valve springs, maxed out injectors etc.

We do not treat our customers as an open cheque book and we tailor mods to suit their budget and goals, whether or not it is happening imediately or over a period of time.

We have lost possible tunes to other business's, because we tell the owner what to expect, not promise them what they want to hear, only to have them come back later to have things done as originally discussed.

Mick that comment wasn't directed towards Pitlane in anyway, apologies if it came across as directed at you guys.

It was more in response to what worm said.

headsex I no how this all feels mate, I was slowly driven out of my passion, and it was my job too though, allthough not in the auto industry, I was constantly putting up with sloppy, rude, demanding, arrogant and un thankful customers. I never got any credit for the extra effort I went too for them. I slogged my guts out everyday, even wknds, and in my own spare time and money to get no appreciation from any of them. plus working crazy hours and workload for my old boss, and got bs in return. I eventualy got fed up with all this crap I was putting up with and moved on, took a break and did something else. but recently moved back into my field that I love doing with a company that appreciates and looks after their workers with respect :)

Ive been in the mechanical repair trade since 1989, and along the way have seen many changes in both the vehicles and how we approach the way we extract more power from them. Gone are the days of extractors, cam and carby for more mumbo (Even though that's the way for my old Weapon!) with the newer and just as challenging science of interpreting and recalibrating factory programs. One thing that hasn't changed are the many d!#khead customers you happen across along the way. Many are just dreamers who have completely unrealistic expectations and more often than not, zero idea and money... The best of them are those who frequent the now freely available enthusiasts forums and somehow conjure up this magic formula for making their personal chariot the be-all and end-all of the particular marque they have chosen.

You soon develop a sixth sense and learn to avoid those punters at all costs... for no matter what you do or dont do, you will be held personally responsible for the underwhelming performance that results from your efforts and their bad planning... Many times I have heard these words uttered.. " its really easy but I just dont have the time to do it, so can you do this and that for me?" My retort is now "If its so farkin easy, go do it yourself!!"

Its just that there is no pleasing some people and as to dealing with someone elses fark-ups, no amount of money is worth it. In those situations its best to run, dont walk.

Danny, do what you do best and leave the salvage jobs to those who REALLY need the money, mate! Not that Im saying that's the reason you have done so in the previous place, must be that misplaced sense of giving a flying fark!

Ive now given the spanners up for a life offshore (Money is OK, different level of stress..) and the best part is the absence of d!ckhead customers.

Tuning is most gratifying and for the most part, lots of fun!

Enjoy the fun part mate!
