If only I could, I'd start a group buy or something lol..

I've been with Netspace for a while now, and its been up and down in terms of speed.. When I first had it it was fast as, but lately, websites have been fine but downloading torrents have been average.. Also they have had a few dropouts.. When doing research iinet werent available in my area at the time, and a few others didnt have the package I was after, or I never heard of em before.. I figure if I can get a good deal thru Telstra, they practically run telcommunications so they should be the best in terms of speeds and quality? Yes there packaged are sh*t, but being such a superpower in the industry, they have the luxury..

Torrents are generally decided by the other side of the world and who is sharing the download...

Optus mobile is really bad lately, 2G is ok but 3G... f*ck me dead it's pissing me off. Sick of "Connection Error" and gon't even get me started on the internet, when on the train in the morning it takes a whoole train jurney to load up few pages, I guess it's good for saving on downloads. Been like this for about 6 months now...

Going telstra mobile as soon as I can get out of the optus contract (if anyone has recomendations on ending the contract early I'm all ears).

I've been getting haeps of "called failed" errors on my optus service... but only in my office (where I use the work phone the most) I always though it was because of the test base station we have

It all depends on where you live. If your not in metropole land then good luck with having a choice.

Telstra got the shoites in 07 when the gov let Optus and others bid on the national fiber plan and stopped work on a lot of upgrades. I believe they are starting it up again ???

Optus has heaps of cable in WA for regional areas. Same as NSW and VIC. But in QLD they are dragging the chain. They just laid some in Noosa but it still goes through the Telstra exchange. So as Turborana said if you are not with Telstra then you are a second class customer and will suffer in peak times. They need to get rid of the copper crap. There is just no room in some of the pits to pull anything more through.

Just for the devils advocate sake: Why should telstra let Optus and others use there pits and exchanges ???

Internode just recently enabled over 500 exchanges for ADSL 2 after Tel$tra allowed other ISP's to use their exchanges. The only catch that I'm aware of is the ISP's had to replace obsolete hardware and maintain the hardware in the exchanges they've enabled. Unfortunatly, Telstra rezoned a lot of areas when they made the changes and I went from zone 1 to zone 2 so I don't get the auto speed upgrade that Internode offer. :(
