same guy who done all my work. I think I hurt it before the service though. that's when I was getting the symptoms, so I decided to service it to see if that was the problem

They just replace the input shaft and the clutch packs for 1st 3rd and 6th dont they?

Funny you say that actually...

I find the changes from 1-2 and 3-4 are the ones that tend to slip. Yet the change from 2-3 seems to be fine...

Sorry for the thread hijack! But I recently bought a turbo terry, and sometimes when I change from 2-3 or 3-4 the revs still sit at about 3000rpm for a bit (not belting it, just normal driving). Or the other day I was overtaking in normal D mode and when I backed off the accelerator the revs were still high and slowly coming down (it didn't change into 5th or 6th) and I had to manually shift it to 6th to get the revs back. Is this normal?? I only bought it 3wks ago, and plan to take it to CV for a tune and injectors soon... But if it's got a gearbox issue I'd rather let ford sort it out first. It's only got 32,000kms on it (07 model).

IF you are on the gas a bit, and you suddenly back off it, the gearbox will hold that gear till you either tap/apply the brakes or keen on driving fast a bit longer.

Not sure if that's similar to the second example you said about the revs still being high and going down slowly.

Oh ok, cool thanks mate!

Just remember it is not KW that kills g,boxes (or difs) its the torque.

Power (kW) = Torque (N.m) x Speed (RPM) / 9.5488

Based of your figures of 300rwkw and 1100nm (asume r/w also) you would be making 300rwkw (and 1100nm)at 2577rpm which is f'ing huge.

For comparison, I have 300rwkw also but at 4100rpm and my torque at that rpm is 716NM.

A flat torque courve (table) of about 800NM through to 5250 will give a maximum of 450rwkw at 5250 which would be pretty nice.

remember 300kw at 2000rpm is just as fast as 300kw at 5000rpm (just you have make 1430NM at 2000rpm vs 572 @ 5000rpm). You just wont have that huge rush when in 5th or 6th down low.

that's my science leson for the day

Aren't 5th and 6th overdrive or something? And that means bad to apply much power to? I'd cruise only in 5th or 6th and drop to 3rd or so for overtaking on the open road if my theory is correct.

Yeah 5th and 6th are overdrive gears :) And 4th is the gear to use on dyno's as its the closest to 1:1 gearing.

1 - 4.17:1

2 - 2.34:1

3 - 1.52:1

4 - 1.14:1

5 - 0.87:1

6 - 0.69:1
