Hi guys,

Looking at a couple of options at the moment and have come across a 12 month old G6E Turbo with 5,500klms for sale privately.

The concern I have is it has had a capa flash tune and stainless exhaust system fitted. I spoke to a ford dealer who looks after our company cars and indicated the exhaust was not a problem but the flash tune is should there be any engine related warranty issues.

Just wondering what experience people have had and if it is worth taking a punt and buying this car, price is in the very low 40'S

Thanks for your advice.

IT all sounds good but if something were to go wrong.... I don't think we have seen anything definitive yet to say that the Car will tell a dealer that the software has been modified in the past. However, if it does then I am doubting that any dealer can put a valid argument to Ford why they should pick up the tab for a new engine..

It is all risk management..

P.S. I have got a feeling your car is located in Geelong..

Hi Barker,

The car I am looking at is based in S.A.

(if you know of a similar melb car though let me know!)

There's plenty of threads (not specific G6ET) around that suggest, somewhat definitively I would say, that Fraud can detect whether the car has been flashed or not, and anecdotally they will generally (exercise their legal right to) dishonour warranty.

I had my entire driveline from the gearbox back replaced, nearly all engine gaskets replaced and other components done under warranty and it had been flashed with C&V tunes.

All I did was knock ot back to factory tune and they never knew. Mind you, these were C&V tunes, not CAPA ones. At the time, the C&V tunes could not be detected.

I wouldnt risk it though, grab a stock one.

That's a very good price. With only 5k on the clock it's not even run in yet! The money you would save could almost buy you a brand new fg turbo engine!

The standard turbo is jet and I'd think this one will be a rocket!
