You didn't get $18.5k "trade in"... You got $13k and they took $5.5k off the price of a new car...There is NO way in hell a dealer would give you $18.5k cash for a BA with 105k and in the condition you said. They would need to resell it for $22-3k to make anything on it.They are looking at the overall picture... How can I get his business??? Tell him I'll give him $18.5k which will make him feel real good... And he'll do it.

Anchor Member 270 Member For: 14y 9m 30d Gender: Male Location: Rockhampton Posted 17/05/10 09:19 PM Share Posted 17/05/10 09:19 PM I traded my 04 BA Auto somewhat Stock, and 105k on the clock. I got 18.5k. Did this at xmas. 22k seems real cheap, maby they taking you for a sucker? The dealer who I traded it to said there trade in prices are "BASED" of redbook. The douch I delt with even cranked out the site infront off me. I screwed my dealer hard...Eaither way, my car went in with 2 buckled wheels, had a pod filter were the air box used to go because the platic growler one had a crack. I didnt notice that for months. No BOV. No spair wheel, jack, or locknut for the stock wheels. No books or service history, and no carpets in the boot. After I found out about the wheels, and noticed the cracked airbox and the worrie of having a damaged turbo I decided to scrap it.They obviously didnt check much, I told them if they gave me that price I would sign for a new car that day so they obviously rushed the whole thing. Got a new one now so woo hoo for me.In short 22k is pretty sh*tty, work em hard.I don't think you got 18.5k lol. There's a 99% chance they over-allowanced(took money out of new car and put in on trade. At least you knew what you wanted when you walked in though. Private sale at $27K doesn't sound bad, but the whole idea of waiting around for a serious buyer isn't quite what I want to do. I was happy to take a bit of a loss with trade-in as its quick and easy n would have a car to drive away in, but not quite that much of a loss.I will hold on to the turbo for a while, unless I get any offers or interested people!cheers for your input guys

Your welcome to explain to me how they have worked it. As far as I can tell you think they charged my 5.5k extra for my new car to cover the costs of the BA? So my new ute only cost 34.5k with the lux pack and I got 13k for my car.
