If we can have an oil refinery, a nuclear reactor, a desalination plant & f*cking big landfill tip then surely we can have a motorsport complex of some description.

That's a great argument. There is probably enough room for a motorsport precinct toward Menai / Engadine / Heathcote, but the argument will always be around being too close to housing.

I have no doubt there is room near the reactor and tip, its a perfect spot for a track, they have a Clay target range look Here

Being to close housing is the main problem & a track near the clay target range would probably be deemed too close to residents even though you can sometimes hear the shottie blasts here at Engadine,(there's even a small bore rifle range less than a kay from my house) not to mention the artillery going off at the Holsworthy army range just across the road.

I would love to see some kind of track either there or in the wastelands on Kurnell Rd but unfortunatly I dont think it will happen anytime soon as the state & local pollies have no interest in motorsport whatsoever.

There are no houses near the clay target range and it is in a military reserve, there are alot of dirtbike tracks and bush walking sites in the area

way too close to residential, and the do gooders will kill it, much like the V8's in Canberra.
