Thanks for the replies so far guys. As for a direction im wanting to head, track work prob isnt it, neither is a 10sec slip being a manual, what I do want is something that will keep say a cammed gts or a blown late model clubby at bay, something quick around the streets with out the hassle of something that's a pain in the arse to drive.

Once again cheers for the replies so far :)

-Injectors

-Cat

-Turbo porting and actuator

-4" dump

-Pump + Surge (dont waste time on the intank pump)

-Stock intake and piping is good for 370KW. Just upgrade the cooler.

-Tune + xcal

Depending on how much you do yourself and who you go to that should b

e roughly 5k. Maybe a bit more

The above isn't my opinion. They are necessary mods to achieve what you have described. The surge tank won’t give you a performance gain but the last thing you need is the motor leaning out when you punch it.

Suspension, gauges etc wont be required to destroy a gts

BA BF SEIMENS 60LB INJECTORS $399

5inch Cat 100cpi 3.5inch in/out $169

12 actuator, modified, enlarged wastegate port & larger flapper $720 exchange

BA-BF High Flow Intercooler & intake kit V3.0 $1699

freight to W.A approx $200

centre muffler delete $100

xcal flash tuner and tunes approx $1250

ya might be able to get this all fitted and tune for 5k and maybe have the same power at the wheels as a hsv oes at the flywheel.

Buy second hand gear where you can and you'll save thousands...

As an example I have a Process west street plenum kit going for $2600 (includes hotside, coldside, cooler, plenum, and 4" intake.

Add to that...

Injectors for $400

Fuel pump for $400

Hi Flow Cat and Centre Muffler Removal $600

Flash Tuner and Tune $1000.

This would see you over 330rwkw with the exhaust being the limiting factor.

I'm not pushing you for a sale, but when I first did my mods, I got second hnd gear where I could and for $5000 made a reliable 330rwkw.

This included a x-force exhaust, flash 3, plazmaman cooler and pipework, k&N filter, Typhoon air intake, injectors, fuel pump, thermostat, tune. All fitted.

As an example I have a Process west street plenum kit going for $2600 (includes hotside, coldside, cooler, plenum, and 4" intake.

I would snap that up in a second if I didnt already get my nizpro gear.

Injectors $400

Surge Tank + pump $1000 (expensive but well worth your money)

Xcal and tune allow $1000

You can pick up full xforce systems off ebay (4" dump 5" cat 3.5 or twin 2.5" exhaust) for around $13-1400 in mild steel with stainless dump and cat.

that's just over 6k if you go with the exhaust but that will see you through to 350 at least. Might need turbo porting and actuator but that will put you a bit too far over budget, but it all depends on what you go with. You can drop the surge tank and get an internal pump which will save you about 800 bucks but that's if u wanna risk it.

Being a BF phoon, valve springs and clutch should hold out fairly well.

Getting second hand gear is a good idea of saving money, I got a full nizpro kit, ported turbo, exhaust, tune for around 7k. I just got an almost new second hand clutch in great nick for just under half the RRP. Only think im really buying brand new is valve springs.

I'm with you there mattyb - the only thing on my car not 2nd hand is the herrod fuel pump. At one stage my car had the nickname "jet033" as it had half qik1's old gear on it.

got a great deal on a turbo with a ported flapper and 12psi actuator, then sold my stock turbo

got a great deal on a plazmaman intercooler kit - thanks mattyb  - which replaced the 2nd hand intercooler I had

got a great deal on a custom dump and xforce exhaust - which replaced the 2nd hand cat and mid section I had

got a great deal on a set of seimens deka 60lb injectors still in their packet

2nd hand xcal1 flash box

totalling around $3250

best tip is do it all at once, tunes can get expensive otherwise

Make sure you get gear that will allow you to GROW... as an idea, here is where I am at.

I started with a Plazmaman intercoolr kit, sold that bought a process west street plenumkit, have sold that and am now buying a Process west stage 3 kit and 4" airbox.

Everything I have bought up untill now has been second hand, or heavily discounted. My advice is to pick what power you want long term, and pick an honest number for the time being that you can add to to reach your long term goal. MAKE SURE that you only have to do minor mods tou your first lot of gear (like replace intake or plenum) to get to you long term goal when you decide to go that way.

I originally wanted a process west stage 3 kit with the 4" race air box. But I was about a grand short. In all the buying and selling, I've definately come out behind. If I'd have waited till I had that extra $1000 initially, I would have saved myself a lot of timeand money, AND had more money now to play with.

Many don't know this but it is your duty as a forum member to spend that money first on engine mods until you to reach the 350 rwkw club.

How many times have you humiliated a HSV under brakes or around a bend. Yes never. How about at the traffic lights. Well probably a few times.

So something like injectors, fuel pump, intercooler tune are fine.

Even sticky rear tyres qualify in this initial expenditure as do hi stalls and 90/10 front shocks.

I take humiliating HSV drivers and V8 drivers in general seriously so if I see you spending your money in the wrong place you better watch out.
