I'm Now Running 375hp At The Treads!

Over the past two weeks I've been seeing continued intermittent overboosting up from the preset max of 8.5 to 10.5psi.

Had it dynoed a week ago....multiple runs each culminating in 10 to 10.5psi. Air/fuel ratio even at this level was still safe at approx 11.5 so no detonation was risked (thank goodness).

Boost was returned back to a max of 8.5psi and all seemed good.

Two days later, I was again seeing overboost. The next 4 days the maximum boost varied between 8.5 and 10.5psi. It didn't seem related to car operating temp, ambient air temp, vehicle speed, revs, etc. etc.

Friday afternoon it was suggested that a loose clamp may be at fault. Replaced the spring tensioned clamp with a quality hose clamp at the plastic duct to alloy intercooler extension pipe (near the base of the battery). And voila! No more overboosting. Seems that the wastegate pressure switch/solenoid signal was getting a bit confused with pressure relief through a leaking hose clamp! Had some further dyno time and onroad data logging and tuning on Saturday to confirm all was well.

Driven a further 600kms of freeway & city this weekend, and no more overboosting. All because of a $3 hose clamp! Thanks for the fix LOK11.

Still got 279kW at the rear. Air fuel ratio smick at 11.5 at full boost (even at 10psi). The injectors and fuel pressure all AOK. Suggestion is that I just have a very healthy "Monday" car!

PS. Local chiptorque agent also put an Xede into a BA GT with a aftermarket exhaust. 308kW at the rear!

 Hey 56mainline. I chopped out my centre muffler and lost midrange, waste of money waste of power, loss of peace and quiet

I did read in another thread & post by you that you also have a Unichip installed.

My only question is, did you have the unichip reprogramed after you got the centre muffler removed?

My dyno results showed an additional 14rwkw at peak, & a maximum extra 21rwkw mid-range. Certainly different to your experience...

Hey I just read that bit about the GT with 308kw at the rear. doesnt that equate to like 400kw at the flywheel??

I must have this wrong because that means a 100kw gain just from an exhaust and chip!!

I think it also had a cold air intake and an aftermarket filter. Not sure about much else, as it was discussed only in passing as I was more interested in my car & the success or otherwise of the last set of dyno tuning etc..

Those really interested in the improvement gain on the GT they did could contact Scott's Dynotune direct....

;) Hi 56MAINLINE.

I  found a 105mm rubber coupling for the airbox mod. I love the extra induction noise, saw the factory XR8 airfilter system adaption on the site today and ordered it. If anyones interesred in the adapted airbox complete with 4 week old K&N filter for $150 email me at hypnot@iprimus.com.au ;)
