Hey all,

Just replaced the rears (as is usual on a XR6T), I had some Kumho KU31's which have proved to be a very quiet grippy and overall a fantastic tyre.

I opted to try the Kumho 37's (a newly released tyre) which rated to be slightly better according to Kumho. After having these tyres for 2 days, I HATE THEM. I have never had a tyre handle this way before. when driving over bumpy roads the car tends to pull in the rear and slide, it just does not feel right. Has anyone else experienced this?

Traction is also very poor for a brand new tyre and having these tyres on the rear just makes me nervous, especially at speed.

Anyway, if anyone is looking for new tyres I would advise not getting Kumho KU37 but would advise KU31's.

Cheers

Sounds pretty drastic! Wen you feel the sliding in the rear are you pushing it? Or is this all the time at posted speed limits on bumpy surfaces? Did the tyre shop align your car? Incorrect Toe settings can make a car feel very skittish and tram line quite badly...

You would think that going by the product numbers but looking at the tread on the Kumho website it looks like they would be a step down from the KU31s let alone the KU36s.

The KU37 look like a cheap, nasty tyre.

I like the KU36's and have them on the back of my car and recommend them for rears.

Kumho seem to use logical system for naming their recent tyre range.

However, it appears based on a chronological based system rather on relative range quality.

I.e. the newest tyre of the range KU37, is only named sequentially because it is newer than the KU36 (probably with excellent tread life), not because it is a higher performing tyre.

Sounds like you need a rebalance and alignment though. Take the car back and get them checked.
