You need to get a plastic tool that will prise it up without marking the hat or dash pad. Just ease it up a bit on the left first, then right and keep going easy like that till it comes up. Make sure you secure the holding clips or you will be digging in behind the dash for them. In the direction of the centre roof lights is about right. Works everytime with mine and no broken clips.
