I agree with VG - the guy has some kind of illegal key (master) IMO and he needs to be found and stopped. It is common knowledge that you can lock any AU or BA with any key but you should not be able to unlock except with your own key. Having said that, remember though that it is possible that there are not enough unique keys to suit ALL vehicles, so there will be a very small number of locks duplicated, but the chances of coming across one the same as your is miniscule. And the smartlock will stop it from activating your ignition so it will only get as far as the door entry as far as I've been led to believe.

this situation isn't unique just to ford..

they'll find all car makers have duplicated keys(same key numbers)..

my suggestion is to speak the stock controller (part of there job is to record key numbers for recuts) and you'll find that such duplication does take place..

I just tried my key in two other BAs and they didn't unlock. A work collegue tried his BA key in mine and it didn't open so I reckon this guy has some sort of master key.

There are about 10 BAs at work, I'll see if my key will open their cars on Monday and come back.

Dam, forgot all about it, and I was at Ford too

Just went out and tried my key in my companies other turbo and it didn't work, also tried her key in mine and it also didn't work. The blokes you met had something underhanded going on :finger:

Not only would it be an issue that the police would be interested in, but perhaps your local Fair Trading/Consumer Commission as well. That's attempting to sell goods or services using unfair tactics which is interpretable as unconscionable conduct under the Trade Practices Act (s.51AB).

This is obviously true, the trouble is, there seems to exsist a key that can unlock any BA Falcon, out in the public, the repercussions of this are huge. Smash and grab will be a thing of the past, thief just unlocks your door, removes your REX, MOBILE, anything else he fancies, he dosent even look like a thief cause he has a key! He can do this in broad daylight and not look suspicious, he can then lock the door and leave, just like an owner. Can't wait till insurance companies get wind of this.

Yeh well ford have a low security rating, I think the biggest issue is the fact that you can reprogram the key to work in the ignition by using the demister. So if the guy knows what hes doing then the smart lock crap wont work at all!
