I went the manual and I'm happy with it but it is a big box so it's noisy etc but it needs to be to handle the power and loads.

The auto's are really good and faster blah blah blah but it wasn't what I wanted. Go the manual.

Nothing like balancing a clutch for a good launch, or rowing gears through a mountain pass, or dropping back three gears in one hit to overtake, or heel and toe downshifting, or feeling the mechanical linkage to the box..... its way better than pressing some buttons with a stick..

If you want to drive, go manual. If you want to be driven, go auto.

-If its a daily go auto, if its a weekend car go manual.

-If you want spend a lot of money on a clutch go manual, if you want to spend a lot of money on zf servicing go auto (auto still a lot cheaper)

-If you want more power at the wheels go manual, you want traction and launch go auto.

It's all preference. Everyone is going to be biased toward their own box.

Yes the auto will destroy any manual no matter how quick you can shift but you have more of a "driving experience" with the manual.

PS: I have the zf and even though sometimes I wish I had a clutch I do love the zf and wont be converting.

How does a manual give you a better driving experience? Is it a psychological/masculinity/control thing? Do you feel the same about intermittent wipers? Blinkers instead of arms out the window? Climate control? Power windows? Central locking? Electronic fuel injection? Electronic throttle control? Power steering?

For a "real" driving experience you'd need to strip the car and whack an old carby engine in it.

Get in to the 21st century and leave the tractor gearboxes where they belong.
