Hey guys, just wanting to know the thoughts and general consensus on buying a 2010 XR6 Turbo Ute in a manual or an auto?

I'm torn between the two and don't know which to buy.

Any thoughts?

I got a hamidown auto and was spuing that it is not a manual, with the amount of driving I do its good to be a auto and now the shift pressure is increased its a fairly good box, id go a auto again as this one can take a bit :spoton:

Yea personal pref really. I have a manual bf2 ute and I had to hang out for 6months watching listings for one to come up for sale, the rest were auto 6spds. I dont care how good the auto is I just wanted my manual even thou I do a bit of driving and have to do lots of gear changes.

MANUAL!!

I have one of each and the manual is much more of a drivers car. Yes the auto can be driven in manual mode but it is far from a real manual.

If your after an interesting drive go the manual. If your after speed and a nice peak hour traffic box go the auto.

best bet is drive both and see what you thinkk.

There are two main points really,

The auto box and the turbo installation in these cars work synergistically to provide superior performance, refinement (and in turn traction) and tractability.

When desired the auto is capable of all sorts of good things, including manual shifting and engine rev synchronized downshifts (with finessed engine braking if that is your thing) considered use of torque convertor (loadings)to provide variable drive ratios to prebuild boost and throttle modulation induced up and down shift behavior. As with many things, it helps to have some idea of how the mechanical system and its drive computers behave in order to be able to extract the desired behaviors; to say that autos simplify or take away from the driving experience is as you can see, simply not true.

Oh, and the auto's fully auto program is also good for tootling around in traffic and most other situtations for that matter.

Regards,

aa

I never said it takes away from "the driving experience".... I did say I have one of each and the manual is much more "of a drivers car".

I will also say that no matter how refined an auto is, it will never be able to mimic the driving experience that a manual gives you.

simple really.

As I said before, drive both and buy what floats your "own boat"
