Hi Guys,

I understand that the FG XR6T has Typhoon engine internals. Ford first fitted them to the BF II XR6T - correct? A couple of questions:

1: Can you direct me to source that documents this engine update? A web site (Go Auto etc) or a Wheels or Motor mag issue would be nice.

2: Why did Ford make the change? Were earlier standard XR6T engines with standard internals letting go? Were earlier (customer modified) XR6T engines with standard internals letting go? Was it merely a preventative action on Ford's part?

I just found the thread that claims that FG XR6T has the same conrod part number as the F6. I'd previously been told that the update to stronger rods happened with the BFII.

I expected to see a motoring report or two in Wheels / Motor / online articles but have not been able to find a single reference. I guess it's hard to argue with Ford Part No's?

That depends.

Some have claimed the oil pump gears have the same part number from BA,BF and FG yet they are clearly a stronger unit nowadays.

I'd suggest that even though a component has the same part number, it may be a stronger upgraded component now anyway?

Unless you're the unfortunate one who orders something and ends up being sold NOS.....

The FG XR6T has no Typhoon components.

The FG has different internals to the FG F6 also.

Doesn't the FG XRT have the same internals as a BA/BF Typhoon? Aka the post 06/06 engine? Maybe the FG F6 has bigger again.
