Hey all.

I was wondering from peoples experience what is the fastest aftermarket manual shifter for a T56 gearbox? I have a standard item which is dogsh@t and needs replacing soon. So far I have been researching RIP shifters, Billet shifters, Hurst shifters and Mal Wood shifters.Which one of the above have the quickest and smoothest up and down changes? I know this has probable been spoken to death but your information would be appreciated!

Cheers Alf.

I can't compare the brands for you. I have the Billet shifter, it has a nice feel to it compared to stock, but on very quick shifts from 2nd to 3rd, I can still miss the gear. It's probably just me though!

Please see below a drivers report from the Bathurst 12 hour, I supplied one of our ULTIMATE STREET short throw shifters ( I actually supplied the ACE option 3 plus, Blueprinted TR6060,Tailshaft etc) and the results are exactly what I expected.

I believe the Shifters that I offer are what you are looking for!

Regards, Mal

As per your request for feedback on the performance of the Tremec TR6060 transmission fitted to

your Ford Falcon F6 Turbo at the recent Bathurst 12 Hour race, I am able to advise the following.

The transmission performed faultlessly for the entire duration of testing, practice, qualifying and the

race. I found that the gear shift was precise, required low effort and could be done quickly and in a

highly repeatable manner.

For all my time in the car I never missed a shift (either up or down shifting), ‘wrong slotted’ or had it

baulk between the gates. Shifting gear became a nearly automatic thing to do, exactly what was

needed in a punishing event such as the Bathurst 12 hour.

Even though the performance of the engine was significantly improved from its standard

configuration the transmission handled this extra power and torque with ease.

For the duration of the event this transmission retained all of its excellent characteristics, whilst

remaining quiet and vibration free.

Please feel free to pass this on to the manufacturer, with my thanks.

I've got a Mal Wood shifter and can't fault it.

I've had a few runs down the strip and very rarely have I missed a gear. The worst I've done is go from second to fifth once or maybe twice in around 30 passes.

I had a 4.1 diff in it at one stage and even needed to grab fifth before the line.

As for normal driving it's perfect.
