This can be caused by idle control issues, drive by wire related or bad tune file problems or to some extent over boost issues. When TPS is usally at fault you will loose control of the pedal, when this happens your pedal will go dead and the car will just idle along no matter what you do with the pedal. If it has the idle control go out of its scope from either air leaks or incorrect injector settings. Either way Ford can just check for codes without having to remove tunes or injectors to see what comes up.If thay cant find any codes then you need to look at the tune settings or the work carried out with the injectors to make sure there isnt air leaks etc. When you get the ETC fault it should give you an error that you can look at on the dash to help diagnose it.Hope that helps.
