Yes indeed. He wanted a 1:44 badly, but his last session was cut short because of a blown hose to his wastegate. You need to remember that this group of guys were running ordinary Advan street tyres; not even R compound, and not big power. What an awesome event it was. Very well attended and organised.Brian

Considering both of them are ex V8 supercar chassis, and engineered with slick tyres in mind I was not surprised when I could see they were both struggling for grip.Every time Jose was coming out of turn 10 (I think, down hill right hander) he was on and off the gas with wheel-spin. Good effort from the boys considering they had zero track time!

About 270awkw on E85 in his daily driven street trim.He ran a 1:45 today, with Advan street tyres, and he said placed 4th in the class today, so he's very happy. He is a very good driver, and was 2nd outright in the Evo nationals at Winton last year.Low 1:30's is seriously quick. Most of us would be pushing it to do 2 minutes. He had an incident today at turn 3, water sprayed onto his windscreen, lost power etc. Turned out an intercooler pipe came loose, hit the radiator fan, and punctured a hole in the radiator. His support mechanic went to a wrecker, sourced another radiator, replaced it and had him back on the track within a couple of hours.BrianThat is a top effort by David, he is basically a privateer running against some big dollar cars. But having met the guy a couple times and talking to Brian he is as professional as you are going to get for a private entry!!Well done ... plazmaman Member 43 Member For: 18y 5m 30d Posted 24/05/10 01:20 PM Share Posted 24/05/10 01:20 PM THERE WERE A LOT OF DOUBTERS WITH ONLY 10 WEEKS TO GET IT TOGETHER WITH ALL THE OTHER THINGS GOING ON AROUND US . THE CAR PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS AND LEFT THE TRACK IN PERFECT CONDIDITON . ALL POWER AND TORQUE FIGURES WERE ACHIEVED FIRST GO . WE MADE A DIFF GEAR SWAP FRIDAY MORNING AS WE CALCULATED THAT WE WOULD RUN OUT OF RPMS HALF WAY DOWN THE MAIN STRAIGHT . 3.0 WENT IN THE ASS END , BUT WE NEEDED MORE LIKE A 2.6 - 1 RATIO . FIRST TEST SESSION SHOWED THAT THE CAR MADE WAY TOO MUCH TORQUE AND WAY TOO MUCH FRONT WHEEL CAMBER AS IT TORE THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES TO SHREDS . STILL A 1.41.50 LAP TIME WAS ACHIEVED AFTER 5 LAPS AFTER NO TESTING. SECOND SESSION - A ROLL CENTRE ADJUSTMENT WITH FRONT CAMBER PULLED OUT WE CHOPPED OFF 1.5 SECONDS AND NEARLY DIPPED INTO THE 1.39S . THE FINAL SESSION WE PULLED OUT SOME POWER IN THE MID CORNER AREAS TO DECREASE TORQUE AND SOME TIRE PRESSURE ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE . WE SUCCESSFULLY PULLED OUT MORE PERFORMANCE EVEN THOUGH THE TRACK LOST SOME 2-3 SECONDS PER LAP DUE TO THE COLDER TRACK SURFACE , AND STILL MANAGED A 1.40 SECOND LAP . A VERY SUCCESSFUL OUTING WITH ONLY 15 LAPS .

Did it ever run at the creek? Seems everyone was up against it all weekend. The winning car posted only a handful of flying laps and replaced their engine in the pits. Sierra Sierra blew a head gasket and replaced it in the pits - Panspeed did a turbo, replaced, then did a gearbox.Berry blew a head gasket too.. And all for the top 10 shootoout to get quashed........ If the internationals back it up next year, I might make the trip over to watch.. btw - does no-one o-ring their blocks anymore? Up to temp by fourth gear & good for two hot laps.. Couple a few sets of those with some carbon panel / door goodness and the T will punch out some quick laps. Here’s how you pedal rwd round the creek. The oversteer @ 1:02 cost him a podium IMO
plazmaman Member 43 Member For: 18y 5m 30d Posted 31/05/10 10:10 AM Share Posted 31/05/10 10:10 AM V8 supercars run 5 -6 odd degrees depending on track . we started with 4.5 , but pulled it down to 3.5 and could have taken more out . We are going carbon brakes and carbon panels , trying to pull out 200 odd kgs as the car will not be used for V8 racing no more . An interesting fact from the saturday . We did x3 5 lap runs . Tyres had a 2-3 lap window due to the nature and moving around of the rubber . Jose was still trying to find his feet in the first x2 sessions and flat spotted x 4 of them - rubbish bin . x2 degregaded and were stuffed . All up out of the x12 tyres we saved x 6 used ones . But get this - we were lucky to have Dunlop sponsor us 20 tyres @ $740 each ( RRP we were told ) . total used $8880 for just 15 laps - ouchhhhhhh , imagine if we were there on friday and used all the alocated ones .... Any one can build a car , but to race and maintain it is another thing . Thank you for the support DUNLOP Motorsports .
