Grabbed this from Overclockers Australia

World Time Attack Challenge 2010 – Eastern Creek International Raceway May 21-22

Fernandez Motorsport and Plazmaman have joined forces and will be entering a 1000HP Supercar style XR6 turbo in the World Time attack challenge.

Ex V8 driver, Jose Fernandez is building an ex V8 Supercar for Superlap.

The car will be based around a V8 supercar style shell and running gear and powered by a highly developed turbo 4 litre twin cam six cylinder and Hollinger gearbox.

Just got the first photos of the shell as they received it. so no engine etc yet, but just want people to know that it actually is being built and its not just a pipe dream

Hot off the press are these preview pictures of the planned livery of the Fernandez XR6 Supercar.

This car has been the topic of much discussion since it was announced the V8 stalwart would be competing in the World Time Attack Challenge in an ex- V8 supercar fitted with a high powered XR6 turbo engine.

The lights have barely gone off in the Sydney based workshop over the past few weeks as the crew work to a super tight deadline to have the vehicle debut at Eastern Creek on May 21st. Whilst this may seem like an impossible task, it is important to remember that they are simply “repowering” an existing race car and with a highly experienced crew supporting him things appear to be happening very quickly.

The car they are using as a base is the 2008 Fujistu car that Jose actually ran with Jason Bright complete with Ohlins dampers, blade sway bars and the extensive roll cage that is a V8 supercar. The final engine is being assembled as we speak with all the hotrod goodies supplied by Fabre Australia and an amazing turbo setup from the gurus at Plazmaman and tyre support from Dunlop.

As Jose made clear to me when we spoke. “We started with an existing race car so most of the sorting out is already done, and therefore when we hit finally hit the track we should be in the ballpark almost off the bat”.

We will keep you up to date with the progress and look forward to seeing this car on the track in May!

The Dunlop R Comp is a very good tyre.

How good controlling a rwd 800hp torque monster...... who knows.. Glad someone is flying the Ford Flag though...

But also consider local talent laps Eastern Creek only 3 seconds behind V8 Supercar pace in an evo/GTR... On R-comps..

And he's going to be up against this Sun Cyber EVO 700hp at all 4 wheels, weighing a tick over 1000kg's...

Oh, and THIS Toyota AWD that puts 1000 hp down at all 4 wheels...... 18" Carbon Fibre Dymag's at that ..

Ball tearing event, and will be great viewing regardless.....

The Sierra Sierra Evo went 1.33.1 in practice yesterday... Now that’s 2 seconds quicker than the V8 Supercars last time they raced there............ and only 2 seconds off lap record pace from a car that landed a week ago from a guy who has had a day on the track – on R comp tyres, with a ‘damp’ track.

Session one just ended and top laptimes are like so:

1: Sierra Sierra Evo: 1:32.2480

2: Tomei Cusco Team Tarzan Impreza: 1.33.4080

3: R-Magic RX7: 1.33.5050

4: Pan Speed RX7: 1.33.6540

Both the Hi Octane R34 and Cyber Evo didn't set times. The Evo still has it's engine head off and we're told the team had to pull an all nighter last night... Nasty!

No word on the XR6-T

The Xr6T is breathing as of yesterday, and made a healthy 556rwhp @ 16psi with 650 linear NM's, testing is due to begin shortly........ :hmmm:

Ps: The rear end setup in the car is a work of Art....
