Nah not a typo, apparently it is to do with the extra torque from the turbo cooking the gearbox and turbo. The manual says 1600kegs is the max regardless of the towbar fitted.

Also to clarify the regular towing statement, I mean if you plan to SKIN around Oz with a caravan or boat for extended towing duties. The T will tow a boat or car trailer fine, but over a long period of time I am sure they will suffer.

Thanks for the clarification, Im sure that for a serious towing application, you would be far better with a 'Cruiser, Patrol or suchlike, built for that kind of work, day in and day out! Nothing beats a real 4WD in that sense. For occasional towing like I do, Im hopeful that I wont strike any major issues, especially transmission related. Im of the understanding that ZF's can be a little tricky to fit aftermarket trans coolers to, may pay to check that one out a little more before pounding the trans too much. I have a trans builder locally that can upgrade the internals using 6HP-32 parts, all genuine of course, for a couple of G's, which works out cheaper that doing an LE-95. Still, best not to go there if there is a better way.

I've had my '06 TT since Jan '10, then it had 92,000k it now has 122k, over 90% has been done in suburban start stopping whilst towing my "dog style" lawn mowing trailer. its empty weight is 2200kg's & full of a weeks grass clippings is um ... more

Only mods are previous owners dodgy intake opening KnN filter + my second day of ownership the "debung"

Fuel consumption was under 21 litres per 100k, has now crept up to 23 as I'm loving the acceleration its power gives to an over 4500kg combination, previous vehicle a V8 Explorer was over 25 litres with half the performance
