If I Wanted ~300Rwkw From My Fg

I have an 09 FG ute, manual, I was curious if I wanted to get it tuned to the ~300rwkw mark (or even a little bit more), what mods should I be looking at?

The key here is I want it to be reliable, it's all well and good to have some extra stick but I'd rather it didn't go bang as a result!

I was thinking of a bigger cooler, different intake (process west race air box?), bigger injectors, high flow cat, bigger fuel pump + surge tank, maybe a clutch (the stock one won't cope will it?) and the flash tuner.

Any recommendations on parts to use and what to steer clear of? Anyone know a good tuner on the Gold Coast?

Also I wanted to fit a lot of the parts myself just to save some cash and I enjoy tinkering anyway but I understand some things I can't put on til it's tuned like the injectors for example.

With those mods you should easily get it there mate, would be a good idea to do the clutch as well.

You can fit everything except for the injectors yourself, as long as you really baby it to the tuner.

Process West, HDi, plazmaman etc are all good brands and are well proven on these cars. Dekka or Bosch for the injectors.

I believe HiTorque is the place to go in the GC.

Injectors, Tune, Intercooler and hi flow cat will easily get you there. No problems with reliability either. Don't worry about the intake.

Should I get the pump + surge tank just to be safe?

Personally I don't think you need it as my car has had no issues on the street and track.

you will easily make 300 RWKW with those mods.

Quick comment - for 300 the direct route with safety; alloy hot and cold side pipe kit, XForce or similar 4" dump / cat / and 3.5" exhaust, injectors, tune with max @15 taper to 13 psi. The standard airbox / cooler will easy handle 300 (plenty have already proved that). Worry about the clutch afterwards. Chat to Mark at Power Torque Engines at Ormeau as well.... he's already done a number of these.

Im in the same boat looking to do some mods mid year. Most likely injectors + tune + purchase of flash box. Possibly a cat depends on budget. What do you guys think is a reasonable price for these? Under $2000? $2000 - $2500? or $2500 - $3000? You guys think its better(cheaper) to buy the gear separately and just ask for installation and tune or just use the tuners gear?

If you shop around tune and flash box will be anywhere from $1100 to $1500. Cat $300, injectors around $350. It can be done for under $2000 for sure.

Take into account the fitting fee for the cat (which may have to be done at a seperate exhaust place) and you may be a bit over.
